As you may imagine, the Tubi is sized for tubulars or sew-up tires. The name Tubi is also derived from one of our pets, a cat who's name became Tubby. Poor Tubby lost her tail in a neighborhood mishap and has been eating like a fiend ever since, in a form of kitty over-compensation.
Back to the seat bag. It works great for the clincher aficionado who likes to carry just a little more than is usually necessary. We love these guys on our own club rides since they always have the gear to save the lost souls who puncture and are empty handed-or is it empty headed?
To fold a tubular for a good fit in the Tubi bag, use your fist as the form to roll the tire around. As one folds the tire, the length of four fingers is about right for this first fold. It takes a little more effort to fold the tire right but the end result is worth it: A small and tidy seat bag that doesn't flop around on the back of the seat.
The CO2 cartridge can be placed inside the first fold or on the side; your choice. The Tubi has a zippered side pocket if you prefer to separate your money, I.D. or key(s)
The Tubi is skinny, so as not to touch you or your Castelli shorts. The strap is double sewn so you can cinch the bag tight and prevent it from swaying gently in the breeze.
If you need a really small saddle back that will still accommodate the essentials you should check this one out. Build quality seems great and it slots in nicely above my lights without taking up too much room. It would be better is there was a second strap that when round the seat post but its still pretty secure.

What are saddle bags?
A small bag for your bike such as a seatpack or frame bag gives you the opportunity to transport useful tools, snacks and valuables to prevent them falling out of your pockets. They are attached using Velcro or clips so they can easily be removed and washed.
Who needs a saddle bag?
Smaller bags are ideal for shorter journeys when you only need the bare essentials. They are favoured by weight-conscious cyclists as you can fit in a surprising amount of stuff without affecting the aerodynamics of your bike.
What are the choices?
You can choose from seatpacks which fit snuggly under your saddle, frame bags which attach to your frame or bar bags which are often seen on triathlon bikes. Look for sturdy, durable, waterproof material and separate compartments for easier organisation.
What should I buy with them?
Why not kit your bag out with some cycling essentials? A hand pump and/or CO2 cannisters are an obvious choice, along with a small puncture repair kit, multitool, energy bar and a couple of quid for a snack, drink or emergency phonecall (that’s if you’re lucky enough to find a phonebox these days).
Just remember that small luggage bags can be easy to remove, so remember to take any valuables out if you’re leaving your bike unattended.
