Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD Dura Ace 2 2016 - Road Bike
Dominate the race with the newly re-designed Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD Dura Ace 2. At the heart of performance is an award-winning race design that’s matched to performance spec. This is a pedigree racer for serious riders, enthusiasts and those seeking the raw speed of a superior composite frame.
New for 2016
This year the EVO Hi-MOD has been through a bit of a redesign. The frame is lighter. Improvements in the Speed Save micro-suspension systems offer 15% more vertical compliance in the rear stays. Upfront the fork is 21% more compliant to keep your muscles fresher for longer.
Down low a rock-solid BB30A bottom bracket provides an 11% increase in stiffness. A refined headtube also increases stiffness by 12%. A more streamlined narrow seatpost offers more deflection to increase your comfort in the saddle. Even the tube profiles have been altered to reduce air turbulence by offering a lower frontal area.
Frame & Fork
Key to the ride characteristics is the Elite Race Geometry with a low head tube, steep head angle and short wheelbase. This combines in a race bike that’s nimble in the corners and aero on the flats to slip through the air.
The superb EVO Hi-MOD BallisTec Carbon frame uses a greater proportion of higher modulus fibres for a lighter frame that doesn’t sacrifice stiffness. It’s just as stiff as the EVO and is also Di2 compatible for potential future upgrades.
Lateral and torsional rigidity is ultra stiff for a podium winning performance. Upfront a tapered head tube creates a stiffer junction for precision cornering, whilst the BB30 bottom bracket area is rock solid for efficient power transfer.
Speed Save micro-suspension helps to take the sting out of fast racing. Subtle flex zones are built into the seat and chainstays which allows them to flex slightly absorbing road shock. The BallisTec carbon composite fork also features Speed Save. Deflection in the fork is matched to the rear triangle for balance.
Components
You get the top-line Shimano Dura Ace drivetrain matched to Cannondale’s Hollowgram Si mid compact chainset. The setup is crisp, reliable and lightweight. Even the OPI SpideRing is forged and machined from one block of alloy to shave grams - shifting performance also improves.
Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels are light, tough and stay true. Subtle weight saving features such as titanium stem bolts are just the icing on the frame.
Key Features :
- The best all-around road racing machine on earth.
- An amazing blend of stiffness, compliance, light weight and aerodynamics.
- Incredible handling, thanks to the tuned balance of stiffness and flex.
- Hi-MOD Ballistec Carbon - Cannondale's proprietary carbon construction method allows us to achieve extreme light weight with amazing strength, while precisely controlling flex throughout the frame for the best possible ride-feel and handling.
- Speed Save Micro-Suspension - Completely reworked flex zones in the chainstays and seatstays allow the rear wheel to track the ground, improving speed, handling and comfort. Tuned to work with the SPEED SAVE Fork. New 25.4mm SAVE seatpost and directional carbon layup in the seat tube allows additional comfort when seated. All told, the new EVO's comfort is improved by over 20%.
- All-New Speed Save Fork - Radical one-piece BallisTec carbon construction. Continuous, uncut carbon from tip of dropouts to top of steerer, 1-1/8"to 1-1/4" tapered steerer with in-molded crown race. 290 grams. 6.1% increase in lateral stiffness. 12.5% increase in compliance. Tuned to work as a system with the rear triangle.
- Delta Seat Tube - For increased stiffness, the seat tube flares to a dramatically wide, ovalized section where it meets the BB.
- Tap ( Truncated Aero Profile) Tube Shapes - Downtube, seat tube, fork blades and upper seat stays have a truncated aero profile which improves aerodynamics, without sacrificing stiffness or weight.
- Continuous Carbon - A continuous network of high modulus stiffening fibres runs around joint areas and along the outer edges of the frames tubes, connecting all parts of the frame and allowing precise tuning of stiffness and ride quality.
- 28C Tyre Clearance - The new EVO is designed to accept up to 28c tyres for reduced rolling resistance and improved comfort over rougher roads.
