    Does What I Wanted

Working capacity ~ 320x230x315mm wdh. Mounting system isn't great, makes collapsing the basket much harder. Wide (a pro and a con), and quite heavy at ~1.8kg. Probably a good idea to get some bungee cord to help secure contents. Seems strong and well made, no sharp edges. When opened, only the 2 larger sides are held - the folding sides are not held in position by the base piece. As a result, their hinged design allows them to bend outwards slightly, so it's possible small items could fall out of the basket. On the plus side, slightly longer items can fit into it by bowing them out, maybe about 360-370mm wide at the mid point of the basket, at the cost of about 10mm in breadth. When collapsed, the basket is held closed by a small metal clasp at the top, which seems perfectly adequate. The loops at the top are much larger than the tubes of my rack, and allow a lot of movement. They're quite long, so it probably isn't going anywhere, but it doesn't inspire confidence. The "Quick release" system for holding the lower section is a 2" piece of metal with a threaded hole one side, and a bent out wave section the other, to slightly wrap around your rack. It leaves a gap that I'm guessing is supposed to allow you to rotate the rack and release it. Possibly this is designed for racks with larger tubes than mine – both my tubes and the gap on the bracket are ~8mm, so it escapes almost immediately given the freedom the large upper loops provide. This bracket is held in place by a large thumb screw that takes up about about 30x30x15 on the inside of the basket, and, almost prevents the basket from folding flat when in use. I gave up on this system right away and have zip tied the basket to my bike like the other reviewer. I purchased this basket to safely transport a really quite expensive heavy, boxy musical instrument that was too big for my regular bags, and it has been perfect for this. The main let down was the mounting system. I was concerned that the loose brackets might cause the basket to come off, or the thumb screw's large head might still be able to cause damage given the instruments weight or in a minor impact. I imagined I'd be able to take the basket off when not needed, but for now it is stuck on my bike, which given the weight isn't ideal, but as it's very functional it hasn't been a big problem.

    Great basket

As I expected it would be. Only issue is that one of the side clasps comes loose but this doesn't affect the performance. I used cable ties to better attach it to my bike as the clasp it has is fine but seems a little weak.
