Formerly the Precept DL, the 2016 Kona Precept 130 is at home on everything from technical descents to flowy climbs. This is an entry level full sus that combines performance, value and fun.

The Precept 130 is for ambitious newbies to take on trail riding, as well as experienced riders wanting a capable full sus on a budget.

You can buy the Precept 130 mountain bike through a 0% interest Tredz Finance package.

    Frame

New for 2016 is a 6061 butted aluminium frame for fluid trail riding and singletrack shredding. Trail friendly geometry has been improved for the new season with a slack head angle, long front centre and short stem, a trail bike sweet spot.

Kona’s Precept 130 is modeled on the high-end Process 134. A tapered head tube improves stiffness up front for better steering precision. The frame is Stealth dropper post compatible for future upgrade potential.

    Suspension

130mm rear and 140mm front travel will smooth out the trail and improve grip. This means you can ride faster, with more confidence. RockShox is equipped both front and rear.

RockShox Monarch R DebonAir soaks up the big hits while still being sensitive on smaller bumps. RockShox Sektor Silver TK Solo Air is a mid level fork that offers premium levels of performance.

    Components

The Shimano 3x9 speed drivetrain provides all the gear ratios you need to ride off-road trails. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes offer powerful speed control in all weather conditions, opening up the 130 as a year round trail eater.

    Kona Precept 130

First ride today on some pretty rough terrain, loose with berms and jumps. Bike handles really well, very pleased. Early days so l will be tweaking the shock and forks in the future but the only slight qualms are that the tyres were not as grippy as l'd hoped and the seat post / stem seems very long? Don't let these tiny personal issues put you off though... This is an amazing bike, well specced, with the normal amazing Kona build quality. I have ridden a few £3000 + bikes and this bike easily feels up there with them! Very pleased with the value for money. Tredz Swansea were the shop I purchased from and although l didn't receive the bike as quickly as expected due to them waiting to receive it from their supplier... They kept me fully informed of events and their communication was ace! The bike also arrived well packaged and the Tredz mechanic had done a great job on all the pre checks before it got to me. Great bike, great bike shop! Brilliant full suss bike for the price, if you ask me, it is basically the process 153 in a slightly lower spec, more affordable package. We'll done Kona for catering for people that cannot afford the model they want but can get something very similar for their budget! Other companies take note! Cheers.

    An absoulte peach!

I have never written a review for anything in my life but this deserved it. This bike will turn a capable rider into a very very good rider. Coming from a older hardtail to this has stunned me. Its smooth, well built and will handle just about anything you can throw at it. Climbs superbly and handles even better on tight downhill trails. I havent stopped smiling! Components are superb, only tthing i would have liked is a clutch rear deraliour but thats me being really picky! I can't reccomend this bike enough! The misses now isnt so happy as the muddy washing pile is now non stop!!! But the moaning is WORTH EVERY SECOND
