Bike shorts you can wear to the shop or pub

These look like any normal pair of summer shorts with good pockets, but they also have well-padded liners which are like lycra bike shorts, but a bit shorter. At a pinch, either layer could be worn on its own. I have two slight reservations. First, as others have said, the sizing is a bit tight - medium only just fits my 32 inch waist. Second, I find the legs rub slightly on my knees as I ride due to the 3/4 length. I think it would get on my nerves if I wore them for more than an hour or so on the bike. All in all, however, they are a good product.

    Brilliant looking short

Great looking shorts but unfortunately I couldn't use them as it turned out they were too small. I have 33" waist so opted for M from the sizing chart. When they arrived though they were uncomfortably tight so actually needed a size up (L) which unfortunately are now out of stock. A refund was issued easily so no hassles but it's a shame as it looked like these would have been a great pair of shorts!

    Shorts

Obviously they are new so build quality and performance will tell over time, but everything seems very good so far. Perhaps a little small for the size ordered. Great service from Tredz again

    Great shorts!!

These shorts are great, lightweight material and good storage options. Haven't got them wet yet, but seems like they are quick drying material.

Decent dry weather shorts at a very reasonable price

3/4 length shorts have always made so much more sense than any other length baggies for mountain biking use. Trousers become heavy and uncomfotrable once the lower knee area is caked in mud and wet and knee length shorts make you look like that sad old guy from AC/DC. (probably why the knee pads for XC riding look became so popular). The length and fit are good (neither too long/short or tight/loose for my buff physique) Onto the construction/design of the shorts: Zipped fly and double waist closure poppers are secure and easy to use as is the thoughtfully added adjustable belt, and in use they do stay put unlike plenty other shorts out there. The numerous secure zipped pockets are also welcome addition. only slight criticism I can find here is that the two front pockets are not really large enough to be comfortable standing around with your hands in your pockets while your useless mates faff about when their latest component isn't doing it's job quite right) Overall construction seems to be good and the main material seems to be some sort of lightweight stretchy cotton/polyester mix (I'm guessing here as Madison simply describe it as BOMBPROOF material). this fabric choice means the shorts are very comfortable and quick drying and you shouldn't get too hot wearing them on even the warmest days out. There is a downside to this however and obviously these shorts would not rank so highly for cold/wet weather performance but you can't have it all. being a brand new user I cannot comment fairly on durability or the highly unrealistic claim of BOMBPROOFNESS I can't see them taking the same sort of abuse a pair of cordura DH shorts might but they do come with a lifetime guarantee. The padded inner short isn't the best nor the worst in either fit or padding insert quality. Basic 4 panel lycra construction using quite a thick generic anti bacterial coolmax insert but are perfectly adequate for shorter rides (upto 4/5 hours). They do have leg grippers but an elastic waist with no drawcord. the inner short poppers together with the outer via a slim hook/loop system which I'm not convinced does anything other than keep them together when on a hanginger but to be honest for the price a removable inner short is nothing but a huge added bonus. Overall I'm one happy customer.

    Value & Quality

This is the first Madison clothing product I've purchased and I'm not disappointed, the quality and practicability is excellent. The material is extremely durable and is reinforced in all the right places. The detachable padded inner lining is an added bonus!
