Cheap & cheerful - once mounted (tricky!)

I fitted a rear rack to my commuter bike & thought a dedicated rack-mount light would be a bright idea. I was suprised by the lack of choice available (here and elsewhere). I decided on this one simply by price and availability (I originally wanted the RSP version but out of stock). This light is cheap and does feel it. It mounts to the rear rack with two nuts & bolts. The standard hex head bolt head is supposed to lock into a recess in the plastic mount and therefore not rotate when you tighten the nut on the other side. I found that the plast recess was far too 'soft' and the bolt just span as you tightened the nut. I ended up replacing this bolt with a socket head equivalent and added a ny-lock nut on the other side to ensure it wouldn't work loose. Other buyers need to be aware though, that this only works if your mounting holes are near the max 80mm spread as otherwise the bolt head slides behind the light and is not accessable. Now fitted it is working well and is good and bright wirth a wide angle of veiw from two standard AAA batteries (included - not yet tried on rechargeables) Only time will tell how long it will last.....
