  • Product description

Recon Jet smart glasses are set to change the way cyclists harness performance data. Live data is displayed on your lens as you ride. The mini 16:9” screen is unobtrusive in your eyeline and uses Glance Detection technology to show data only when you look at the screen.

These high tech smart glasses are packed with the latest tech and spec with a 1GHz dual core processor, Wi-Fi, ANT+, Bluetooth Smart (4.0), GPS and a HD camera.

    Connectivity

Recon's Jet Black glasses combine performance eyewear with a power cycle computer. ANT+, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Smart connectivity allows you to pair these cycling glasses with heart rate monitors, power meters, cadence sensors, and other performance Apps.

You can also sync up to your phone (iOS and Android compatible) to receive incoming texts and calls. A Built in microphone means you can accept a call whilst riding - hands free. You can also choose which songs to listen to next on your phone.

Recon Instruments have also included a GPS so you can capture elevation and distance data more accurately.

    Display

The 16:9 screen can be easily viewed in all lighting conditions. This compact screen appears as a 30” HD display at 7 feet away (2m). Glance Detection technology means the screen wakes up only when you look at it. When you’re looking at the road the screen remains dark so you’re not distracted.

Unlike on Google Glass where the display appears at the top of the lens, the Recon Jet is positioned at the bottom. When cycling your head is dipped and you look out through the top portion of the lens. Placing the display at the bottom minimises distraction as you ride.

    Engine

The Screen, camera, microphone and electrics are all housed within the ‘Engine’ underneath your right eye. On the left side of the glasses you’ll find the battery. The engine contains a 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor and a range of sensors including:

    • accelerometer
    • altimeter
    • barometer
    • magnetometer
    • gyroscope

    Battery

4 hours battery life in typical use. Carrying a spare is a good idea on longer rides and you can easily swap batteries in seconds. The Recon Jet Black glasses will continue recording your data from where it left off.

    Performance Eyewear

Whilst being state of the art smart glasses, the Recon Jet is also performance eyewear. Adjustable ear stems and a two axis nosepiece allow for a finely tuned fit. 4 interchangeable lens options provide full UVA and UVB protection with polarized options for cutting out glare.

    Video / Camera

The Recon Jet smart glasses come with a 720p HD camera which you can use on the fly to capture epic moments.

    Recon Engage Software

These glasses come with a micro USB 2.0. Connect to your laptop and sync with the Recon Engage web app to share performance, customise dashboards and download maps and updates.

Sync up to the Engage iOS or Android app and you can share your ride data in real-time to your friends and family. You can also track your friends’ performance.

Auto send all of this data to MapMyFitness, TrainingPeaks and Strava. Or you can export this activity data manually to FIT, KML and GPX files.

    Jet Maps App

The Recon Jet Maps app lets you find your way and shows nearby friends in real-time, so you can meet up on the road.

    Third Party Apps

Recon run a fully open platform for third party app developers to create new and innovative apps for the glasses. It will be exciting to see just how far they can push the technology hidden in these glasses.

    Recon Jet Glasses

Purchased after reading extensive reviews and articles so knew what I was getting. Knew what the pros and cons were. Its great to use and the battery life is excellent. When you finish a rise and your bluetoothed to your smartphone the rise is automatically uploaded with all your stats. There are additional apps available from the website which add to the functionality which is always being improved. if your out for more than three hours the battery will need to be changed but you can buy clip on battery's and not loose any data you have logged so far. Its innovative and well worth a look at. Iv linked it to my heart rate monitor and cadence sensor. Its just great!

    Fantastic gadget BUT..........

Great idea and a fantastic gadget but in real world use they are useless. Difficult to see and focus on the display and they just get annoying as the display causes a blindspot in the bottom of your right eye... not good on a bike ! Dont waste £600
