THE INNOVATION

Off road: Riding at lower pressure means better performance ... but at the same time it increases the risk of failures. The limit so far is at about 20 psi, below which it’s hardly possible to dare to ride normal MTB tires.

But nothing stays the same:

In the future, air pressure can be controlled in the tire‘s double chambers. In the outer chamber, the air pressure is extremely low - ideal for maximum off road performance. In the inner chamber, directly on the rim, there is high air pressure – even a very strong impact cannot dent the rim edge. At the same time, the inner high-pressure system secures the tire onto the rim. “Burping”, the dreaded loss of air at low pressure in conventional tubeless systems, is impossible.

The name

PROCORE is derived from "Progressive Core". The core (internal high pressure chamber) progressively absorbs even the hardest impacts.

The compatibility

You can mount Procore with any tubeless compatible MTB tire. The system is available for all three MTB wheel sizes (26“, 27.5“, 29“). Weight approx. 200 g per wheel. Compatible with all wheels, independent of the brand. Minimum inner rim width: 23 mm.

PROCORE is a joint development of SCHWALBE and SYNTACE.

THE DESIGN

PROCORE - the outer chamber

The outer chamber is tubeless. Therefore, any tubeless compatible MTB tires can be used. The tire is filled with some liquid sealant (approx. 60 ml) and should be at least 57 mm (2.25“) wide.

PROCORE - the inner chamber

Two special Procore components form the inner high pressure chamber: the special Procore tube and the Procore inner tire. This "core" is extremely high pressure stable and at the same time very light.

The rim

Of course, the rim must be tubeless compatible and sealed with a tubeless rim band. It should have an inner rim width of at least 23 mm. The wider the rim, the easier the installation and the better the performance under low air pressure. The very wide Syntace rims are a perfect fit.

The PROCORE valve

The patented dual valve of the Procore tube distributes the air into both chambers. The upper part of the valve is a selector. With a simple turn, you select whether air is pumped into the inner or the outer chamber.

The PROCORE Air Guide

The small red component made of white plastic ensures that the air can flow past the inner high pressure chamber into the outer low pressure chamber.

THE BENEFITS

Tire pressure can be reduced to a minimum 14 psi, thus giving a huge amount of grip. Even on the roughest terrain tires “stick” to the ground.

The tire gives extremely sensitive cushioning.

Due to the extra cushioning and traction there is much better steering, braking and traction control.

No more risk of snake bites. The rims are extremely well protected from denting.

Even in the toughest conditions, significantly lighter tires can be used.

Excellent emergency running characteristics due to the internal high-pressure air chamber.

PROCORE INNER TIRE

The special inner tire for the PROCORE system - light and high pressure stable.

PROCORE TUBE

Special tube for the PROCORE system. Fitted with the patented dual valve to fill both air chambers.

PROCORE AIRGUIDE

A small part with a crucial function: the AirGuide guides the air from the dual valve into the outer chamber. Can be used for all three wheel sizes (26“, 27.5“, 29“).

Doc Blue Professional

New Doc Blue: Now even better formulated for Tubeless conversions. Produced by Stan’s NoTubes! It can also be used as a puncture potection preventative for bicycle tubes, tubular tires and standard Tubeless systems.

Dose:

60 ml/tire (Race bike 30 ml). Effective ca. 2-7 Months. Thereafter dries to a rubber film. Can be renewed. Only suitable for tubes with a removable valve core. Not effective on large defects (cuts/bursts).

Tubeless Rim Tape

The tubeless rim tape is extremely user friendly and at the same time very high pressure resistant. Even on road bikes a single ply of tape is sufficient.

Tire Levers

Tire changing made easy! The special shape of the lever reduces the danger of the tube being pinched during installation. When removing a tire, the lever can be snapped onto the spoke – leaving hands free for the second lever. The high-quality plastic is virtually unbreakable. Levers can be clipped together for easy storage.

Tyre Size Guide

Whether you are replacing a worn out tyre or want a performance upgrade, it is essential that you choose a tyre that is compatible with your bicycle as well as your riding style.

To find out which size tyre you will need have a look at the sizing information on your existing tyre. You can find this information on the side wall of the tyres, either in coloured print or embossed in the rubber itself. Both rim diameter and tyre width are shown in the size info.

You will notice that road bike tyres tend to me measured in metric units while mountain bike tyres use imperial units.

What Size Tyre Do I Need?

Ypu need to knnow your wheel size and tyre width when chosing a replacement tyre for your bike

Wheel Size

Tyres are made to fit specific wheel sizes, so you need to know what size the wheel on your bike is.

The easiest way to do this is by looking at the tyres on your bike. On the sidewall you'll see a combination of digits such as:

700 x 28c (road bike wheel) or 27.5 x 2.4 (mountain bike wheel)

It’s the first figure that shows the diameter of the wheel or the wheel size.

The next figure is tyre width which is the other measurement you need to know.

Tyre Width

Inner tubes are designed to fit a range of tyre widths, so the next thing you need to know is the width of your tyre.

This is shown in the second number that’s printed on the side of the tyre.

When choosing an inner tube you need one with a width range that covers your tyre width as well as exactly matching the size of the wheel. See the tables below for examples.

Note: Sometimes metric sizes are shown as c instead of mm. This is just a different way of saying the same thing. A 25c tyre is the same width as a 25mm tyre.

Traditional and ETRTO sizing

Sometimes the sizing info is listed in two different ways; the traditional sizing method shown above and ETRTO sizing which lists the tyre width first and the rim diameter second. The rim diameter size is measured differently with ETRTO, for example:

What are the different types of bike tyres

While road, mountain and hybrid tyres have their own specific differences there are some features that are common to all tyres.

Clincher tyres - most bike tyres have a bead which hooks onto the rim to keep the tyre in place. Traditionally this bead is made from wire which is tough but heavy. Premium tyres use a folding Kevlar bead which is equally as strong as wire but is much lighter weight.
Tubeless tyres - while regular clincher tyres require an inner tube to keep them inflated tubeless or tubeless ready tyres form an airtight seal with a compatible rim so you don’t need an inner tube. These are most commonly found on mountain bikes as they can be run at lower pressures without risking punctures.
Tubular tyres - These are specialist road bike tyres that have the tube built into the tyre and are then glued onto a compatible rim.

700c wheels have a diameter of 622mm. While most 28 inch tyres are for a 622mm wheel, some are not. Check the ETRO number on the sidewall to confirm.
