Scott Aspect 720 Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB
Scott’s new 2015 Aspect 720 recreational hardtail mountain bike is ready to hit cross country trails, gravel tracks and the occasional trail centre. Have fun at the weekend then commute to work during the week, you can buy the Aspect 720 through a Cycle to Work Scheme.
Frame & Fork
The Aspect is light and strong, making it tough enough for rougher riding. This is down to the high quality aluminium frame material which has been double butted. Butting reduces frame weight by shaving excess material from low stress areas in the frame.
Your positioning on the frame is upright and stable giving you extra control on trickier terrain. In urban areas being upright will also improve your visibility.
This Aspect comes with a capable fork providing 100mm travel to smooth out bumps in the trail. A remote lockout lever on your handlebar allows you to fix the fork in place for those out of saddle climbs. A bobbing fork makes climbing harder and more exhausting.
After an impact your fork will return to its original position, this is called rebound. The speed of this rebound has a massive impact on fork performance. Too fast and the front of your bike will buck up, too slow and it won’t be ready for the next impact. This fork comes with adjustable rebound damping so you can set the best speed for your needs.
Components
The 30 speed 3x10 Shimano Deore drivetrain gives you a wide range to tackle steep hill climbs, undulating trails and rapid flat road riding. Deore is a quality setup with good shifting performance. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are great to see on a bike at this price point. They offer great stopping power and performance than traditional rim brakes.
Strong Syncros rims can take the impacts of rough riding. The 27.5” wheel size rolls smoothly on bumpy tracks and are nimble for precision. These are wrapped in Kenda Slant tyres with low profile knobbles for better grip when off-road. They do roll quickly when you’re back on the tarmac.
