The next step in hardtail trail bike evolution. The Specialized Fuse Pro 6Fattie gives you more grip and cushioning on rough terrain and makes a great alternative to a full sus MTB for tearing up the trails.

Built from the ground up for 6Fattie (27.5+) wheels and tyres the Fuse features an M4 Premium aluminium frame with a slack head angle and low bottom bracket height for stable handling at speed. Thanks to the innovative Diamond Stays, there is plenty of clearance for 3” tyres while keeping the chainstays short for nimble handling in the tight.

Plus sized wheels massively improve your grip through a wider contact patch. This lets you hit the corners faster, making the Fuse ideal for scree-filled switchbacks and loose singletrack. With a greater tyre volume, the 3” Ground Control tyres give you more floatation (cushioning) which acts as extra suspension. This is why 6Fatties are much smoother than other hardtails on rough terrain.

Upfront is 120mm (100mm on size small) of plush travel thanks to the excellent RockShox Reba RC3 650+ fork. Adjustable rebound and on-the-fly compression damping means the fork can be dialled in to suit individual trail sections.

Equipped is a SRAM X1 11 speed drivetrain with a very wide range 10-42 cassette for tackling a range of terrain. Well matched are the SRAM S-2200 carbon cranks which are stiff and lightweight for effective power transfer. Powerful SRAM DB3 hydraulic disc brakes offer confident speed control in all conditions. Quality Roval wheels with wide 38mm rims offer good support for the 3” tyres and Specialized’s micro-adjustable command post lets you get active on the bike on technical sections.

Ride with greater confidence on the Specialized Fuse Pro.

    Fast and fun

I was looking for a 27.5+ for local rides where my 160mm trail bike is overkill. The price made this an obvious choice and i'm not disappointed. I did change the bar and stem (wider, shorter) to make the cockpit more aggressive but i won't be changing much else (probably rotors). The plus size tyres have a huge amount of grip. I'm running low pressures and have found climbing is good, better than my other bouncy bikes when locked out but not as quick as an XC 2.3 tyre hardtail. Descending is fast and actually very stable, they tyres do roll and squirm a bit but once you get the feel, it's all good. I've conveted to tubless to keep things simple. I've taken the bike down some proper steep rocky/rooty/muddy 'enduro' tracks and the only thing i felt lacking were the brakes, this will be fixed with a 200mm rotor upfront and 180mm moved to the back. I've read elsewhere that the ride is harsh and the fork isn't great, i can't say this has been a problem for me, once i set the pressure and rebound i was happy and pushed it quite hard, it's not as responsive as a Pike or 36 but it's not supposed to be at this price. Ride comfort feels great with lower pressures in the tyres although my max ride has been 3 hours so far. I'm 6ft4 and went for the xxl, i'm really happy with modern bike sizes, the bike is spot on (with a shorter stem).
