Few companies can genuinely claim to produce one legendary bike, well Specialized produce a few and one of those is the Rockhopper. It's long been the hardtail by which others are judged. This has only been possible by constant development and improvement so it comes as no suprise that the 2010 Rockhoppers get a redesigned frame, it's still constructed using Specialized's excellent custom M4 tubing but subtle changes have allowed the 2010 Rockhopper to shed weight and increase stiffness whilst maintaining its classic blend of speed, efficiency and handling. 2010 looks like being yet another year when the Rockhopper sets the standard.

What is a Hard Tail Mountain Bike?
Thick, knobbly tyres and lots of gears are the overriding features of these machines. Strong frames are built to take the rough with the smooth and can often be accompanied by a front suspension fork for added comfort and control. Theyre designed mainly for off road use but these solid, comfortable bikes often meet more general needs. For further information on mountain bikes see our Mountain Bike Buying Guide.
