The trail dominating Stumpjumper FSR Elite has been upgraded for 2016. A new, optimised geometry with a slacker head angle, shorter chainstays and 135mm travel is ideal for bombing around your local trail centre.
The Stumpy can handle the most demanding of technical trails. Efficient on the climbs, and controlled in the descents - it’s an all-rounder.
New frame for 2016
The FSR Elite is constructed from M5 alloy. It is a durable, light and stiff material, so is ideal for a full-suss trail bike. The geometry has been modified for 2016. A slacker 67.5 degree head angle (69 degree in 2015) is more stable at faster speeds.
Short 437mm chainstays create a more nimble back-end. The low bottom bracket height has been maintained to create a lower centre of gravity, meaning better handling in the corners. This geometry balances uphill efficiency with downhill stability, at the same time being light and agile.
Internal cable routing protects your cables from damage and requires less maintenance over time. It also keeps the frame aesthetically clean. A 12mm bolt through rear axle provides a stiffer rear end, and a 15mm axle on the fork makes for precision steering control.
The IRcc 125mm (100mm size small) command dropper post can be adjusted on the fly. You can set the right saddle height for the section of trail that you’re riding.
The Elite 29er comes with a RockShox Pike RC fork. This fork is stiff, light and plush, making it ideal for taking on both big and small impacts. It’s one of the best forks on the market, and to see it on a bike at this price point is great.
The Factory version of the FOX CTD shock is the same as found on the Expert Carbon and S-Works models. There is a boost valve for when the trails get rowdy. It also comes with a Kashima coating for a super slick feel and better durability.
This Stumpy comes with ‘FSR’ suspension. This is one of the most effective suspension systems you can get on an MTB. The 4 bar linkage (with a second pivot on the chainstay) allows the rear wheel to move on a linear path. That means chain tension isn’t affected and there is no pedal kickback, or pedal induced bob. It’s designed for trail riding where efficient climbing and descending is key.
Each pivot point on the suspension system uses fully sealed cartridge bearings which are smooth and easy to service. RX trail tune on the rear suspension means that every shock is tuned for that specific Stumpy. The volume, compression and rebound range are optimised. You don’t get this from every manufacturer.
SRAM’s X1 1x11 is a performance drivetrain offering a large gear range in a light, simple to use and ultra reliable package. To see X1 on a full-suss MTB at this price point is impressive.
SRAM’s drivetrain is matched to Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. These offer great modulation and are also very reliable for confident riding.
Roval Traverse wheels with a 29mm rim width are ready for aggressive trail riding on technical sections. You get a full Roval Traverse wheelset including hubs. They’re tubeless ready for a smoother, faster and easier ride - and no pinch flats.
The Stumpjumper FSR Elite (29er) is a powerful long travel trail bike, ready to carve up a trail centre.
