    Massive difference, well worth it

NB: this is just one brake. You can get pairs of brakes cheaper (and probably faster) elsewhere. So I'm writing this having only done my front brake! You'll also want to buy new brake cables and housing. I bought this because I was getting brake shudder using cantilever cyclocross brakes, and they weren't powerful at all (compared to my road bike). Brake shudder on the front is due to the wiring of cantilever brakes against the frame, with a flexible fork (Zinn has done a good post on it). Anyway, it totally solved the problem. The one issue is that front brake is best suited for continental brake wiring, not British because of tight corners the cable has to go through at the front. I swapped over my left and right brakes to make it more comfortable, but I didn't actually try with the British wiring. Further background is that mini V-brakes come in different arm lengths. These are in the middle, and seem like a good choice. YMMV. Overall, I think it's going to change my cyclocross bike from a mediocre death trap to a snappy fun machine. Best investment ever, albeit a bit annoying that the £850 bike came with such poor brakes to start with.
