Bicycle Storage is suitable for?
- Any cyclist who has limited space/would like a neat bike storage solution
Overview
- Bike storage is especially useful for cyclists who have limited space at home. Wonderful as they are in motion – bikes (folding bikes aside) are undeniably a bit cumbersome when not in use. Fine if you have space in your garage, a pain when it has to live in your kitchen.
- There are many different solutions, from the simple (and often ideal) hook in the wall, to complicated pulley systems. What works for you could depend on how many bikes you are looking to store, whether you can drill a hole in the wall, how much you’d like to spend and whether aesthetics are important or not.
- We’d always recommend that you keep your bikes inside if possible, but if this isn’t – there are also bike covers and floor anchors to keep your bike safe and secure outside.
Aled at Tredz: “The dream is a garage with space for my bikes – but till that happens I’m happy with my wall mount.”

Types of bicycle storage
- Wall mounted hook/rack: The simplest and cheapest option, you just need to ensure that the wall you’ve got in mind can be drilled and will support the weight. Some are one bike only, others can take multiple bikes.
- Bike stands (freestanding and mounted): These are bigger items and generally more expensive, but can offer a more versatile system. Most take 1 – 2 bikes.
- Pulley system: Perfect for those with high (strong!) ceilings. These let you hoist your bike right out of your way.
