Following his early life spent building, improving and racing motorcycles, injuries convinced Keith Bontrager to switch his engineering and design skills to bicycles instead, starting Bontrager Cycles in 1980. Gaining his Physics degree as a mature student, he really got into engineering designs for premium bicycle wheels, lightweight rims, MTB tyres and carbon bike components. In 2003 Bontrager became the official wheel supplier to Lance Armstrong and the USPS cycling team. The name is now synonymous with the most highly rated bicycle tyres and lightweight components available.
