Let down by zip
by Anonymous user on 04/07/2020

The bag's a good size, the frame fastenings are great and the material seems pretty solid and waterproof. The major downside is that the plastic ziploc closure on top popped open on its first test ride out, leaving me scrabbling around in the long grass trying to find the multi-tool, CO2 inflator, and snacks that had fallen out as a result. Spent about half an hour at the trailside trying to put it back together with no joy, before giving up and just wrapping some gaffer tape round the bag to hold it together. Luckily, this happened on a local test ride on a nice day - absolutely would not trust for a big bikepacking trip in the Highlands etc.

Just buy one!
by Anonymous user on 16/12/2019

I bought this for my Surley Ogre a month or so ago and it has hardly stopped raining since - glad I did. It has so far been completely waterproof, so much so, I don't double bag my phone in it! easy to attach but doesn't fit on my gravel bike as well but I still love it.

Great bag - waterproof, stable, good size, great valie
by Robert H on 18/07/2019

I've been experimenting with various ways of getting riding my Mountain bike without a backpack and now I've finally found it. This top tube bag is quite a generous size, big enough to fit multitool, phone and a spare tube without issue. I think I could even squeeze a small mac in here if the weather looked bad. I haven't tested the waterproofing thoroughly but there's no seams and the zip is a plastic one so I'm confident it would survive a downpour. Most importantly for an mtb, the solid walls and rubberised base mean it sticks to the top tube well, even through rock gardens and drops. The zip is plastic and stays in place even when the bike is vertical on an uplift - also easy to open one handed. The only negative is that the size is a double edged sword. Although the bag itself is sleek it looks bulky on my top tube. I wouldn't want to mount it on a bike with a short top tube as it would probably get in the way of my legs. As it is (600mm top tube, 30" inseam, 170mm cranks), it works fine. Pretty good value too. Overall I'd definitely recommend.

Bike Bags Guide

What are bike bags?

Bike bags are a simple way to carry any type of cargo, either on your back in the form of a rucksack or attached to your bike.

Who needs bike bags?

Bike bags are really versatile – use them to accompany rides of any distance, whether they are for work or play.  Plenty of pockets will help even the most disorganised of riders.

What are the choices?

The choice of bike bag is huge, from a a simple seatpack with a spare tube and repair kit, to a pair of panniers for an expedition. There are also rucksacks and hydration packs for your back, holdalls and handlebar bags available.

What should I buy with them?

You’ll need a fork-mounted rack for front panniers and a rear rack for rear panniers.

Anything else?

Always buy a bag slightly larger than the one you’ll think you need. It’s surprising how many things you might need to pack.
