Product Description

The Basil Mara water resistant double pannier bike bag is equally good for commuters with lots of gear or for touring. It's made from water-repellent 600D polyester which is foldable for easy storage. The bags are shut tight by buckles and have reflective stripes on the front and back for added visibility.

The stitched cut-outs for luggage carrier straps give you the option to carry the bags around when you park your bike.

O'neil helmet and Basil Mara panniers
by Stephen C on 26/05/2020

I am very pleased with both the products i bought. The helmet is great quality and it was the best price anywhere on the web. Tredz staff where extremely helpful with my order. I will be using them again.

Good budget option
by Andrew C on 28/08/2015

While these aren't as nice as they manage to look in the product photo, for the price they are actually very good. There's no real structure to them so they flop a bit if not full, and if full the top may not cover all the opening of the bag reliably and could let some water in during a heavy downpour. That said a cheap waterproof cover will let you be double sure, and I don't think it's likely to be an issue unless you're riding for a long time in heavy rain. Waterproofing of the fabric seems to work quite well and I noticed drops sitting on the surface after a short ride in the rain the other day. I got the XL 35 litre and it holds a surprising amount! Main drawbacks are that it doesn't always seal very tight, the attachments to the sides are a bit fiddly velcro and not all that strong, and the main attachments are not really useable for a quick release. Not had any problems with the bag flapping about at the side, but would find a better fitting more reassuring. And I just empty them of anything valuable when parking my bike and leave a cheap lock fixed onto the rack so no one can just walk off with the bag. A couple of cheap click release luggage straps could probably be put through the loops to make it a bit more portable if so desired, All in all a very good option given how cheap and seemingly quite waterproof it is. Lacks a quality touch (which you expect for the price) and not suitable if you are going proper touring, but for a 12 mile cycle to work they seem to do the job nicely.
