Product Description

The Cannondale CaadX Tiagra 2016 is a cyclocross race bike at the weekend, and a solid commuter during the week. Ideal for racing, rapid commuting, winter training and general rough road riding the CaadX is versatile to say the least.

You can buy the 2016 CaadX Tiagra through a Cycle to Work scheme for even better value.

Frame & Fork

You get the same frame on the Tiagra as the top of the range Ultegra model, and the same fork. Made from 6061 aluminium alloy the frame is light and stiff with comfort features built in with Save Stays and a carbon composite fork.

Geometry is spot on. When compared to its big brother and cyclocross optimised Super X, the CaadX has a slightly taller head tube for a more upright and comfortable riding position. A slacker head angle makes for more stable handling too.

One comfort feature are the Save Stays (seat and chainstays) which have a flattened shape and engineered with refined butting. This gives greater vertical compliance with lateral rigidity for efficient power transfer and confident handling.

Smooth welds are a Cannondale speciality, using a double pass smooth weld technique. This technique eliminates weak points that you find on traditional welds. Taper butted tubes make for a lighter and stronger frame by removing excess material from low stress areas. Smooth transitions provided by taper butting reduces internal stresses further than by traditional butting methods.

A super stiff BB30 bottom bracket helps to improve power transfer through the pedals. Rear rack and fender mounts (front and rear) show the CaadX as a capable commuter bike and one which is optimised for Winter riding.

Up-front you get a carbon bladed fork which is able to absorb road vibrations from travelling up through the handlebar. It also increases steering precision.

Components

The CaadX comes with a 2x10 Shimano Tiagra drivetrain with a close ratio between gears so you can better optimise your cadence.

Mechanical disc brakes provide all weather reliability and stopping control in all conditions. The frame and fork have been optimised to take disc brakes.

Maddux CX rims run on Formula hubs, an upgrade over their own brand option. These rims are wrapped with Schwalbe Sammy Slick tyres that have a low profile tread that is ideal for off-road and on-road performance.

Key Features:

  • Lightweight 6061 aluminium frame is optimised for off-road riding
  • Carbon bladed fork offers a more comfortable ride
  • Disc brakes provide reliable speed control in all weather conditions
  • Shimano Tiagra 2x10 speed drivetrain offers reliable gear shifting
  • Sub-compact chainset provides lower gear ratios for riding on difficult terrain
  • Sizes: 48cm, 51cm, 54cm, 56cm 58cm, 61cm
  • The Cannondale CaadX Tiagra is available with 0% finance

Perfect for me

I bought this bike after doing some research and seeing a couple of video reviews. I'm not a biking fanatic but enjoy riding on and off road. I needed a bike that could take on the road and rough terrain in its stride. This bike does not disappoint some people might not like the lack of a third cog at the rear but it's perfect for me quick on the road and just that little bit better on a rough track or trail. I haven't had any issues build wise but Canondale are renowned for their build quality. Simply put I love this bike 😀 Tredz made the whole purchase easy I'd recommend them to everyone,

Functional

Bought the bike for commuting in and out of Oxford. Delivery etc all great. Have had to take bike to LBS to get BB adjusted and have had 4 spokes replaced on the rear. Comfortable ride, but component quality questionable. I would buy from Tredz again though.
