Product Description

The all-new Cannondale SuperSix EVO is a pure road bike - a beautiful evolution of our classic race machine. We followed the proven recipe of the previous award-winning versions, while making it better in every possible way. We made it better for racers and the racer-esque by keeping the ultralight weight, explosive rigidity and telepathic handling people have loved about the EVO since the beginning, while making it much faster with tube shapes and top-to-bottom system integration that seriously reduce aerodynamic drag.

Key Features:

  • Hi-MOD carbon is the highest grade available from Cannondale
  • Race proven Shimano Dura Ace 2x11 gearing
  • More compliant and comfortable than previous versions
  • The lightest disc road frameset Cannondale have ever made.
  • Sizes: 48, 51, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62
  • Colours: Agave
  • The Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD Carbon Disc Dura Ace is available with 0% APR finance

Cannonale Supersix EVO Review

Compatible with The
Cannondale App

And we made it more appealing for anyone looking for an amazing road bike by making it smoother, more comfortable and more capable with improved SAVE micro-suspension, a slightly taller stack height and big tire clearance. It’s the ultimate bike for hilly races, fast group rides and all-around high-performance road riding.

Key Benefits:

Less Drag. More Speed:

  • 30 watts. That's how much power the drag-reducing tube shapes and integrated design of the new SuperSix EVO saves over the prior version at 30 mph (48.3 km/h).
  • New family of highly truncated airfoil tube shapes offer the same weight, and equal or better stiffness than round tubes, while reducing drag by up to 30%.
  • Designed as a system with new HollowGram 45 KNØT wheelset, integrated 27 KNØT SAVE seatpost, and new SAVE integrated bar with KNØT stem. The full system integration has a major impact on drag reduction, and gives the bike an incomparably clean, beautiful look.
  • Fully hidden hydraulic brake line and Di2 cable routing. Same thru-the-headtube routing as SystemSix. The easiest cable routing of any internally routed bike.

Even Lighter:

  • The new SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD is the lightest disc road frameset we’ve ever made.
  • 19 grams lighter than the previous EVO (56cm disc brake Hi-MOD frameset with seat post). Sure, 19 grams doesn’t sound like much, but you usually have to pay a hefty weight penalty to get the kind of drag reduction the new EVO offers. Nice work, engineers. Category Race Wheel / Tire Size700x25c (30mm max - with full 6mm clearance on each side)
  • Maintained EVO’s perfect frame stiffness (perfect, according to the Tour magazine testing index, and everyone who has ridden it).
  • Made possible by the new tube shapes, integrated seat binder and new 27 SL KNØT seatpost.

More Comfortable and Capable:

  • 18% more vertical compliance, a slightly elevated riding position and room for big tires, work in harmony to improve the new SuperSix EVO’s ride comfort and rough road capabilities, without diminishing its pure race performance.
  • Increased frame compliance due to lower seat stays, integrated seat binder and the 27 SL KNØT seatpost with SAVE.
  • Revised geometry provides a better fit for more riders, with a slightly taller stack and shorter reach – just 3 to 3-10mm depending on size (except for size 44 which actually gets about 1cm lower and longer, finally!).
  • Tire clearance is boosted to 30mm, with 6mm of space on both sides, so riders can put on larger volume tires if they wish. Note – rim brake bikes are limited to 28mm tires by the calipers. SuperSix EVO

Road Bike Guide

Road Bike Guide

Is a Road Bike Right for Me?

If you’re new to the cycling world, we highly recommend taking a look at our bike buying guide overview or our road bike buying guide to help you decide what type of bike is right for your needs.

When you’re choosing a road bike, there are a few things to look out for which can help you work out the quality and performance you can expect from a particular model.

Usage

What road bike is right for you? There are a few different kinds of road bike, and they all have their specialities. We break down their strengths and usage in an easy to read table below.

Type of Road Bike

Usage

Pros

Cons

Sportive Road

Long distance, training, sportive and endurance riding, as well as rough roads.

Comfortable, relaxed geometry is more accessible for riders new to road cycling.

Not as aggressive or stiff, so serious racers may look for a road race bike.

Road Race

Racing and training.

Lightweight, aggressive geometry for most efficient riding position.

Range limited to tarmac roads and cycle paths.

Aero Race

Road and criterium racing.

Aero dynamically efficient and fast. Stiff frames and aggressive geometry.

Heavier than road race bikes.

Flat Bar Road

Training and commuting. Comfortable, fast city riding.

Upright riding position is great for training and city riding.

Limited options of bikes. MTB-like position not great for racing.

Frame Material

The vast majority of road bikes are made from either aluminium alloy or carbon fibre. Alloy bikes can offer higher tier groupsets for a lower price, whereas carbon frames come at a significant premium, but are lighter and give that extra performance advantage.

Aluminium

Aluminium alloy frames
Alloy frames have come a long way recently, using hydroforming and butting to keep the weight low, while keeping stiffness high.

Carbon fibre

Carbon fibre composite frames
Carbon frames have a lighter weight and greater stiffness, while maintaining excellent comfort.

Fork

Road bike forks are made to be lightweight and stiff, giving accurate steering, as well as a comfortable ride. Budget road bikes will have alloy forks, whereas mid-range forks often have mix-material forks, with alloy steerer tubes and carbon fork blades. Carbon bladed forks deliver a more comfortable ride, absorbing road vibrations and flexing slightly in rough roads. Full carbon forks are found on high end road bikes. They are especially lightweight and offer even greater stiffness.

Groupset

A bike’s groupset, or drivetrain, is where the biggest difference in component quality is seen. A complete groupset comprises of the following parts:

  • Chainset (aka Crankset)
  • Bottom bracket
  • Brakes
  • Brake levers
  • Shifters
  • Front & rear derailleur
  • Chain
  • Cassette

Road groupsets are supplied by Shimano, SRAM or Campagnolo. Having reliable and fast shifting can make all the difference when pushing hard. The majority of road bikes have double chainring drivetrains, while triple chainring setups are usually only found on low end bikes and touring bikes. Road bikes will have 7-11 speeds in the rear, with higher gears meaning more options for smoother riding.

Road Groupsets

Brakes

Disc Brakes

Disc brakes
Disc brakes offer greater stopping power and modulation. They work as well in wet as dry weather, and don’t require the rims to be replaced periodically. They come at a weight penalty, however.

Calliper Rim Brakes

Calliper rim brakes
Rim brakes are lightweight and easy to maintain. They allow greater aerodynamics for aero road bikes and

Wheels & Tyres

Types of tyres

Road bikes tyres don’t vary as much as mountain bike or even hybrid, but they still make a huge difference to how the bike rides. For a detailed look into road bike tyres, see our guide.

Road tyres have long been offered as either clincher or tubular. Clincher tyres are the standard tyres that fit onto standard rims with a tube holding the air. Tubular tyres are glued to a special tubular rim and are fully encased, doing without a tube.

Tubeless tyres are now a feature of road bikes, delivering a compromise between tubular and clincher tyres. They look the same as clincher tyres, but pair up with special rims to offer a proper seal within the tyres, also doing away with tubes.

Tyre Size

Road tyres are traditionally quite narrow. Nowadays the accepted standard is 25c, but 23c and 28c tyres are very common too. The larger the size tyre, the more comfortable they will be, but they will also be heavier and potentially slower rolling. Sportive and flat bar road bikes will commonly have wider tyres, whereas race and aero road bike will tend towards narrower tyres.
