Product Description

Comfortable, stylish and practical, the Dawes Duchess Deluxe is a classic women’s hybrid bike. With a lightweight aluminium alloy frame, it offers heritage styling combined with modern practicality.

Alongside the alloy frame, the real stand out feature of the Duchess Deluxe is the double front basket which allows you to carry the rattan inner basket to the shops without having to fiddle with straps and buckles when taking it off the bike. The upright riding position is comfortable and the lowered top tube makes it easier to get on and off the bike. To keep the bike perfectly proportioned in all sizes, the smaller framed models roll on 26” MTB style wheels while the larger sizes feature 700c road bike wheels.

Mudguards and chain guards help to keep you clean on wet roads while the rear rack offers extra carrying capacity. The sprung saddle aids comfort while the kick stand makes parking easier when you reach your destination.

Offering easy shifting with a good spread of gears is the Shimano 7 speed drivetrain to help you up the hills. All the components are colour matched to compliment the stylish look.

Cycle the city in style on the Dawes Duchess Deluxe.

Excellent

From the point of view of a person whose relationships with bikes is on and off like a loose ladies knickers this bike is really easy to ride (I'm unfit and a wobbly rider with easily offended muscles and seat bones) It sails along country lanes and tracks with minimal effort on my part. Bit of a boneshaker over rougher ground at speed but that's no surprise with it not being a mountain bike. I can even cycle up hills on it which is something I've never been able to do without having to pay for it with burning muscles and audibly clicking seized up knees. I find the riding position very comfortable and even my bony seat bones don't complain about the saddle which is surprisingly comfy. The bike itself is well made and light enough to handle, you don't need the physique of a silverback gorilla to lift it. The front basket is large enough for a packed lunch, handbag, drinks and waterproof coat or fleece or your basics from the local shop. And it's really handy having the two baskets. The wire fixed basket allows even more stuff to be carted around if you leave the wicker basket at home. All in all I think it is excellent value for money, is a fantastic bike to get back into cycling on, supports a genuine British manufacturing company, and is the only bike I have ever ridden which hasn't made me want to hurl it into a hedge and walk home. I chose the cream version which turns out to be a rich warm cream (which I actually liked more) not the pale almost white cream pictured.
