Review | 9 / 10

If you do use Elite bottles – or others that fit easily – then the Vico cage really is the business. Its stealthy matt black and white look will fit with any colour scheme, and adds an element of understated class. – Road.cc

  • A sleek and lightweight cage that utilises innovative new construction techniques to bring true Italian carbon fibre design and manufacturing to the masses

  • The shape is based on the peloton-proven Custom Race Plus, with the excellent retention and ease of use the finest riders in the world expect

Tech info

Patented design: new design gives the bottle cage a firmer grip, even in extreme conditions. It is also easier to insert and remove your water bottle.

Ultra-lightweight: The Vico only weighs 23 grams. It features structural sections that vary width according to the tension level applied to different areas of the bottle cage. This ensures reliability and performance.

Secure bottle retention: The front structure wraps the bottle higher up to improve retention even in challenging conditions, such as speedy descents and off-roading.

Quick and easy bottle insertion and removal: a unique shape makes it easy and safe to insert and remove the bottle with just a simple move, so you won't be distracted from the road ahead during your rides. The bottle can be inserted and removed from either the front or the sides of the cage.

Tested and developed with the world's best pro teams: many years of races and victories with the world's best professional teams have helped us design, test and create a bottle cage that will meet the expectations of even the most demanding cyclists.

Superior finish: precise design, full attention to detail and new edgy graphics lend the VICO bottle cage a superior finish that makes it stand out from the competition.

Ideal for cutting-edge bikes: a unique design and edgy graphics makes this bottle cage perfect for cutting-edge bikes and ideal for small sloping frames with smaller central triangles.

Wide range of placement options: the shape of the mounting holes ensures a wide range of placement options. Mount one on the seat tube and one on the down tube to carry two bottles at the same time, making sure you have enough water to get you through your trip.

Good carbon cage

They feel a lot sturdier than my Bontrager carbon bottle cages which I couldn't put on my bike as they were the wrong shade of red... Unfortunately Camelbak podium bottles only 'fit' with too much force. I've ordered some Elite branded bottles that have the same colour accents as the cages. I'm paranoid enough to believe that's an intended design choice by 'Elite'. The camelbak test did at least show me this cage is tough and not just light. Bit annoyed that they don't come with bolts (other cages I have bought did come with them). Overall I bought them for the perfect colour combo with my Lapierre rather than the fact they are carbon. However, if you care at all about weight I think these are worth the little extra splurge for your pride and joy. Also, If you're a die hard Camelbak user I'd suggest looking elsewhere. I so wanted to use my 2018 ones with these but it just is't practical.

It's carbon and a bottle cage.

It does the job and is reasonably priced for carbon. I've a couple of other resin cages that do the job just as well, quite why we get hooked on carbon I don't know although this Vico is a whole 16 grams lighter.

Great upgrade

Great upgrade from basic cage, which does also work well, but carbon bling required for repaired and resprayed carbon bike. Matt black.

really nice piece of bike bling

really nice piece of bike bling that won't break the bank. the matt carbon appearance and the Red writing (i went for red to match the bike it was going on) go well with my Focus Izalco Max (Winter and sportive bike) for which I bought 2 As expected the bottles are held securely and there is very little flex in the carbon construction. I use Elite Fly Bottles with these cages but out of interest tried them with a Elite Corsa bottle with no issues. Probably the cheapest Carbon Cage on the market and will be ordering some more for my Bianchi Oltre XR4 (race bike)

Bottles & Cages Guide

What are bike bottles and cages?

A bottle and cage set-up is a really efficient way of staying hydrated while you’re riding. Simply reach out and your beverage is close at hand. It’s so important to drink plenty of fluid while you’re riding to prevent dehydration, so anything that makes it easier to do that is a must-have.

Who needs a bottle and cage?

Riders who need instant refreshment use bottles and cages. Whether the bottle contains water or an energy drink, it’s close at hand and easily supped from a specifically designed mouthpiece. Remember, even if you’re pootling along at a sedate pace, you’re still exercising, which is always thirsty work.

What are the choices?

Choose the bottle which you’ll find easiest to drink out of and the most simple to use with an accompanying cage. The cage selection ranges from feather light carbon holders to sturdy steel receptacles. Side-loading cages are great for compact frames where space is at a premium. BPA-free construction means you won’t ingest any nasty chemicals.

What should I buy with them?

A bottle brush is brilliant for cleaning, especially with smaller bristles to clean the mouthpiece. If your bike doesn’t have eyelets for a cage, there are adaptors available.

Anything else?

Make sure you regularly clean your bottle – it’s very easy to leave it festering on your bike. A few ice cubes in summer gives you a refreshingly chilled drink.
