Ergon SMA3 Comp Saddle

The Allrounder

Developed with Freeride Legend Richie Schley, the SMA3 offers the perfect combination of performance and comfort for all mtb riding styles. The flat and narrow sloping rear allows for fast and smooth changes between downhill and seated positions.

The relief channel offers increased protection of the soft-tissue areas, providing many enjoyable hours in the saddle. The CNC machined orthopedic AirCell foam distributes pressure and gives enhanced support. Cover Edge Protection and the Microfiber surface enhance the durability of the SMA3.

V-Shape saddle top for optimal freedom of movement, and easy position changes.

Relief Channel:

Helps to offer increased protection for soft tissue areas.

Narrow sloping rear with flat contour allows for fast changes from seated to a downhill position.

Padding Construction:

CNC machined, orthopaedic AirCell padding offers enhanced support and optimal pressure distribution.

Large-Area Pressure Distribution:

Offers optimal pressure distribution for sit and pelvic bones, the contoured surface area helps prevent saddle discomfort.

Side Flanks:

Silicone side flanks promote greater pedalling efficiency, by reducing friction while pedalling.

SMA3 Series:

No more saddle pain! Even those riders who are not spending a lot of time in the saddle when riding can now enjoy being seated on the bike with this new saddle series. A pronounced relief channel and orthopedic saddle foam provide that extra bit of desired comfort. Despite the outstanding fit properties of the SMA3, the design was also enhanced for unlimited downhill runs. Featuring silicone infused side flanks on the seat cover, all movements on and around the saddle are frictionless and allow for seamless transitions on and over the bike by the rider. Uphill Chill. Downhill Thrill.

Relief by pressure distribution:

The area around the sit bones is less sensitive to pressure, unlike the perineal and genital areas. The sit bones can better distribute the weight of the upper body over the saddle surface. Optimum pressure distribution in the sit bone area and pubic arches is achieved by a flat and uniform surface contact, as well as the use of high-quality orthopedic foams.

Not for hard riders

I manage to completely bend the the rails with 1 month of riding. If your a hard rider, go for carbon

SMA3 Saddle

What's there to say.... it's a saddle, colours go nicely with my bike and for me it's comfortable (for others it may not be). Price...this is the only gripe, can a saddle really be worth £80!?

Saddles Guide

What are saddles?

The saddle is your bicycle seat.

Who needs a saddle?

Saddles do become worn over time and need replacing, but many people choose to upgrader the standard saddle on their new bike to something more suitable for their needs.

What are the choices?

You can choose saddles in different widths, for male or female riders. There’s not really a clear division between road and mountain bike saddles, so you need to choose a shape and type suited for your physiology as much as your riding style.

What should I buy with them?

Saddles are only one half of the backside comfort equation – reward your rear with a padded set of cycling shorts for full comfort.

Anything else?

There’s no single shape of saddle that’s comfortable for everyone – some people prefer deep padding and lots of cleverly designed pressure relief cut outs. Others favour a flat, no nonsense design.
