Product Description

The Day One 20 brings all the associated benefits of singlespeed riding with it’s single, ultra-efficient optimised chainline and adds the practicality of Shimano’s Nexus 8sp internal geared hub with its’ wide-range gearing and sealed-from-the-elements drivetrain.

Returning a similar range to a conventional double setup (30-92 gear inches, with a whole lot of useable range in between) and with mounts for racks both front and rear, the Day One 20 is the ideal low-maintenance workhorse for those wanting to perhaps carry moderate loads efficiently and comfortably over undulating landscapes. It's a supremely versatile bike - we've even seen them geared down (via a simple and affordable sprocket change out back) and handle some pretty demanding expeditions with aplomb.

Steel is real

I bought this bike as an additional winter commuter. I've been riding fixed and have a Genesis Equilibrium but wanted something a bit different for winter. I like the idea of the internal hub, 35 mm tyres and just the chain exposed to the elements. It's only a 8 speed hub but there's a good spread of gears and the disc brakes function well, thought the gear lever on the end of the bar took a bot if getting used to. THe bike is obviously a bit heavy at the back but once riding it wasn't bad at all. I'm using the bike on canal towpaths which it handles well. For the price, I think it's excellent and it has eyelets for panniers which is a bonus. It's definitely a touring bike, you won't be getting any Strava KOMs, but if you want a bike which is good value for winter months, then you won't go far wrong with this one.
