Capable, confident and efficient. The Giant Fathom 1 is a hardtail mountain bike, with trail friendly geometry and capable components, that is ideal for trail centres.

The lightweight ALLUXX SL-Grade frame features a more relaxed geometry, with a slack 67-degree head angle. Combined with a longer travel suspension fork this offers more stability on fast, technical sections so you can attack the trail with confidence. Of course you still get the climbing efficiency you expect from a hardtail MTB. The tapered head tube offers increased front end stiffness while the internal cable routing keeps the lines nice and clean. 27.5” wheels give you the ideal balance between rapid rolling performance and nimble handling.

The Suntour Axon fork up front offers 120mm of plush suspension travel, with adjustable compression and rebound damping to dial in the ride, for composed performance on technical terrain. The Shimano SLX 1x11 speed drivetrain offers secure shifting and quiet running, with a wide range of gears so you can take on all the varied terrain on your route. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes offer confident all-weather stopping power.

The dropper post, with remote lever, allows you to make the most of every trail section without compromising on fun or efficiency. Wider handlebars offer increased control while the Maxxis Ardent tyres offer rapid rolling confidence.

Have more fun on challenging trails with the Giant Fathom 1.

    Fathom 1

Real good spec for the cash, it's rapid for the xc and offeres abit more than your average xc bike does, with 120mm forks and 11-1 slx gears your not going wrong. Only bad points are with the build it's self. My brakes needed Adjusting as they came very soft, few air bubbles pushed out and it's fine. The biggest problem is the dropper cable, they all needed to be shorter a little but this cable is by far way to long. Its on the tyre so I pulled it up front and now it just hangs up on the grip. Going to have to get that cut in the shop which is annoying considering it costs over a grand. But if that got sorted all in all it's a good buy for the money

    Big grin!

A lot of bike for your buck! First outing on XC single track today and I had a huge grin on my face from start to finish. Very responsive on the winding sections, plenty of low down gears for the straight and fast bits. First time with a dropper post and my eyes have been opened, short steep drops into pits no problem and downhill a blast, press the lever and up comes the seat for the uphill grind, simples. In comparison to my Giant Defy 1 roadie it's pretty lightweight too!! So far the only bits I would change is the stem and pedals, but that's just all part of making the bike fit your body and personal ride style. As for the componentry we'll see, but so far so good, no complaints. For a straight out of the box setup, this is a brilliant hardtail for a semi-pro-weekend-warrior! Again - big grin on my face!
