Product Description

Lake was the very first to come up with a mountain bike shoe and later on the winter mountain bike shoe. Presently we have a wide range of different shoes to meet even the highest demands on quality, durability and comfort. The unique BOA Closure System for example gives an outstanding pressure distribution. Youll be able to squeeze all power that you have got through your shoes into your bike with a minimum loss of energy and a maximum of comfort. Lets get out there and play in the dirt!

Features:
  • Upper: Full grain leather and mesh
  • Outsole: Lake Race 100% Carbon Fiber Sole with Mountain Race X real rubber sole
  • Lining: Leather heel lining
  • Closure: Dual Side mounted Push/Pull BOA lacing system with releasable lace guides
  • Last: Competition Last: The Competition last is specifically shaped for optimal power transfer and comfort. Like the CFC race last, the Competition last puts the foot in a position that allows the energy to be focused to the spindle but also offers more room for the forefoot to expand allowing for a comfortable fit for extreme long distance riding.

Occasionally, without notice, manufacturers change product design and/or specifications.

Rather than have road and separate MTB shoe, I wanted a pair that looks at home in both camps. These fit the bill to a T. EXTREMELY comfortable, for which I usually struggle, and as usual with bike shoes went one size up. Great quality, look fab, fit well and has Boa technology. Downside, yes they cost, but considering every ride you do will be in these, cost v value soon comes good. Very recommended

Beware!

I bought these shoes October 2016 and had one one of the BOA tighteners pull out of the stitching in August 2017. Tredz said they could not provide a refund until the product had been inspected. Now 3 months later they say it is policy for Lake to repair rather than refund. Before you purchase an expensive pair of shoes like these consider what you will do if they are faulty within the warranty period. Waiting 3 months is not acceptable

Proper kicks

I just won Singlespeed Cat. At Mountain Mayhem 24hr race this year so I would like to think I understand performance and comfort when it comes to riding XC. In that case, hopefully this review helps whoever bothers to read because all I do when buying new SPD's is read reviews if buying online. So I raced Mayhem in a pair of Shimano XC7's which have an upper boa (on-the-fly adjust capable) and a lower Velcro. They are superlight and supposed to be super stiff and normally very comfortable (I thought) I only suffered some slight pressure numbness over the full 24hours of hard riding. Decided to treat myself to some new shoes after Mayhem and here's why I love my new Lakes; • They offer full range of half sizes. • They have two perfectly placed boa's, genuinely the best adjustment options I have ever felt. • They have a snug heal and plenty of room in the toebox so toes can move without any sliding inside the shoe. • Perfect Arch support for proper power drive without foot sliding forwards (again) and no under foot cramp over longer rides (can happen). • Real leather I can feel moulding over time and only getting more comfortable. • PROPER STIFF, the carbon sole is one of the stiffest I've rode and I can feel a genuine advantage in the shoe compared to my Shimano's (without any comfort compromise). • Lastly a little secret only real hooners will appreciate. I think it's something to do with stack height, when giving 90% power singlespeeding up some steep stuff there was slight vertical play in my shimano's (despite being used with XT pedals...). The Lakes are solid as a rock and no power is lost anywhere. Right that's enough, yes I got bored at work and I don't normally right reviews but spend the extra P's and purchase these power puppys if you want to win.
