After my first order being accepted, and a day later being cancelled as my chosen bike was no longer available, I was disappointed. After a further hunt through Tredz very large selection of available bikes, I chose the Merida Speeder 200. Conformation came that the bike was available and would be with me in a few days. Disappointment did not last long. Bike arrived in a massive cardboard box. On inspection of the box it was noted that it was sealed and unopened, although some holes and rips were visible (took photos just in case) Bike inside was further packed with cardboard to keep it safe. Bike was all ready apart from putting the pedals on and attaching the handlebars and a seat adjustment. I know Tredz do a safety check prior to dispatch, but I didn't think it would do any harm in checking to see if all screws, bolts, nuts were secured. First ride: Plan was to just go for a little 10 mile along a costal cycle path. Unfortunately this ended in a 3 mile ride. Initially everything was spot on, gears were awesome as were the brakes and a very comfy and quick ride. The issue was that the front derailleur was doing nothing. Checking the cable I found it very sloppy. Now I'm no cycle mechanic but as Tredz set up the bike before delivery it may have been a little something they had not done correctly. At this price point (for me anyway) I expected a perfect product. I contacted Tredz via the Chat facility and was asked a few questions, then told to take to a local bike shop for fixing. Tredz said they would pay up to £35 back to me on completion and receiving the receipt. The fault has now been fixed, I'm still to send the receipt but I'm sure Tredz will keep their promises. I know I've put 4 star for this review but in all honesty the bike deserves a 5 star, only knocked a star off for the inconvenience of having to mess about fixing something that should have been picked up prior to delivery. Tredz dealt well with my issue and again to be fair if the bike does not develop any further niggles I would definitely recommend Tredz as a go-to bike retailer. This weekend a group of us have plans to cycle from Liverpool to Southport and back, so fingers crossed the Merida Speeder will be up to the task (not sure I am 🤷‍♂️) without further faults. Keith.
