Product Description

Miche Primato brakes Budget brakes that don't compromise. Have performance to match some of the best brakes on test. The standard pads are pretty good on alloy rims, and the quick release has a nice secure operation. They give predictable and precise control when you need to stop. They also have a very attractive price tag. Well built, very powerful performers at a great price. Cycling Plus 4/5

Miche Primato brakes A pleasant surprise. They have a slightly stiffer feel, but offer great control and a lot of stopping power. Brakes Guide

What are brakes?

We all know they’re what make your bike stop, but you get different types for different bikes, each with their own advantages.

Who needs brakes?

Anyone with a bike. Although having said that, some fixed wheel bikes don’t actually have a brake, just the resistance of the fixed wheel to slow them down. You should still fit a separate front brake for riding on the road though.

What are the choices?

You need the right brakes for your bike, whether that’s disc brakes or rim brakes. Each will have specific fittings on the frame and different types of wheels, so you can’t just mix and match. Disc brakes can be mechanical or hydraulic. Rim brakes can be single or dual pivot caliper brakes. You can even get coaster brakes and hydraulic rim brakes as more unusual choices.

What should I buy with them?

At some point you’ll need to buy replacement brake pads for your brakes. Might as well stock up with spares when you buy your new stoppers.

Anything else?

Brakes are incredibly important for safety – make sure you buy the right sort and set them up properly. Also, if you have rim brakes, check the braking surface of your wheel rim hasn’t been worn dangerously thin.
