BMX Guide

What is a BMX?

BMXs are small, durable bikes built for stunts, tricks and urban riding.

Who needs a BMX?

BMXs are popular choices for kids and teens, but adults can ride them too to learn tricks. They aren’t really for covering great distances, but for riding in parks and on obstacles.

What are the choices?

There are different styles of BMX for different types of riding. Race BMXs are light and nippy, the sort you see at the Olympics. Street and park BMXs are great for taking on obstacles and learning cool stunts. Dirt bikes have larger wheels and are good for outdoor jump courses.

What should I buy with it?

This is hard, technical riding so protective gear is a must. Go for a BMX helmet and protective padding.

Anything else?

There’s a lot of hip lingo to go with BMX bikes. Make sure you know you gyro from your halfpipe while you’re endo-ing into a tailwhip, or you’ll just sound daft.

See our BMX guide for more.
