A very bright rear light!

After reading the reviews on rear lights I chose the moon crescent. I would really recommend this as it’s really bright (3 x settings!) bright, really bright and blinding bright! You can set it to flash on each brightness and is USB chargeable. Can’t fault this light and get about 5-7 hours riding out of one charge.

Very nice light

For a device of such size this one packs a surprising amount of brightness. Been using it daily for commute since I bought it more than a month ago. Battery lasts a full week give or take, with at least an hour of operation every day. My two minor complains are, the button is made too sensitive, so it happens to turn on in my pocket a couple of times, and the other being difficulty to turn it on sometimes after prolonged operation (e.g. switching it off when entering a shop for 2-3 min. then need to press it multiple times to turn ON again).

Good tail light

I bought this for a specific task: my Moon Shield was too bright for people following me when out on a mtb nightride, it was destroying their night-vision. So this little light can be run at 8 lumens in low, perfect for convoy riding, but can still be wound up to a very useful 25 when out on the roads. Still has all the useful Moon features, good build, usb chargeable, low battery warning. Can't complain about anything really...

Just bought my 2nd one of these as they are so good. 1 for the road bike and 1 for the mtb. Also have two Moon front lights. Best lights I've ever bought and can't fault them for reliability.

Moon crescent rear lights

Bought two sets this time one for me after seeing how good they were when my son got them. Easy to fit and use. His had to be replaced because he left them in a music practice room. Very nickable both on and off the bike! So if the thief is reading this I hope you feel guilty. Would have got the font lights too but they were out of stock shame had to go elsewhere to get those. .

Moon Crescent rear light

The light is really excellent as are the other Moon lights Comet type that I've recently bought. My one big gripe is that this site states that the Moon Crescent rear light comes with the saddle rail bracket. It does not the box has only the rubber strap type seat post bracket. I will now have to order a separate saddle rail bracket

Rear Lights Buying Guide

Rear Lights Buying Guide

While front lights can reach up to and above 1000 Lumens, at the rear anything from 20 to 100 lumens is plenty. Multiple rear lights are the best way to be seen from behind, especially when on the flash mode.

With one attached to the seatpost it can be good to have another on the chainstay, backpack or helmet. 20 Lumen would be sufficient for commuting in urban areas. For those living in darker areas or riding on dimly lit roads, a rear light closer to 100 lumens would be best.

Take a look at our Rear light comparison tool to help you choose the right bike light for your needs.

Wearable lights

Extra visibility

If you commute on lit-up city streets, rear lights are more than essential. To have a second light high up and in the eye-line of drivers and other road users is a very good idea. With reflective clothing and/or accessories like backpack covers and jackets, adding a wearable rear light will really make you stand out. Most backpacks will have a loop or somewhere to secure a light, using the strap or mount that come with the light.

Usually not a concern for MTB riders, nothing extravagant is needed for the rear, just so the rider can be seen on any road or path that might lead to the trail.
