Fragile, falls off, turns itself on.

Had this clipped to a cycle bag. If you put your bag down, the switch will press up against the bag and turn the light on, where it will sit all day running down the batteries. The light itself has a habit of falling apart if not clipped together firmly, and will fall apart if dropped. The bag clip is just a hard plastic tab, it doesn't actually clip with any pressure. The light falls off when you put the bag down, and it also falls off when riding. The last I saw of this light was a scatter of plastic on the road behind me when it fell off the bag and broke apart. The car behind had to brake before it get run over. I scooped the bits up, waved thanks to the car for stopping, and binned it when I got home. It lasted under 2 weeks. Didn't use the seatpost mount, but it's not the best designed thing. Rubber bands would be better.

Rear Lights Buying Guide

Rear Lights Buying Guide

While front lights can reach up to and above 1000 Lumens, at the rear anything from 20 to 100 lumens is plenty. Multiple rear lights are the best way to be seen from behind, especially when on the flash mode.

With one attached to the seatpost it can be good to have another on the chainstay, backpack or helmet. 20 Lumen would be sufficient for commuting in urban areas. For those living in darker areas or riding on dimly lit roads, a rear light closer to 100 lumens would be best.

Take a look at our Rear light comparison tool to help you choose the right bike light for your needs.

Wearable lights

Extra visibility

If you commute on lit-up city streets, rear lights are more than essential. To have a second light high up and in the eye-line of drivers and other road users is a very good idea. With reflective clothing and/or accessories like backpack covers and jackets, adding a wearable rear light will really make you stand out. Most backpacks will have a loop or somewhere to secure a light, using the strap or mount that come with the light.

Usually not a concern for MTB riders, nothing extravagant is needed for the rear, just so the rider can be seen on any road or path that might lead to the trail.
