Excellent product

Bought this as an upgrade on my Cube Acid. Well made and a little heavier than my stock stem, but I don't mind as who really notices these things once on the trail. Comes with a branded top cap and a little rubber insert for the Allen head to protect it from the elements. A bargain upgrade!

RSP Freeride Stem

Purchased to reduce reach on original stem on Scott Aspect 730. Impressed with the stem kit. Easy to fit and looks great. Tested over the weekend and impressed with the change. Great price and build.

Excellent stem

I wanted a 50mm stem to shorten the reach on my daughter’s new mountain bike. This was the only brand which offered 50mm at anything like a sensible price. Most other makes where stupidly overpriced. The stem looks chunky BUT that is because I choose the 50mm length and at 50mm the fork tube and handlebars are just about next to each other. The stem is well made and I was IMPRESSED with the fact that the torque setting is given on stem. I always take this to be a sign that the part is made by an engineering focused company rather than a fashion and style conscious supplier. Few other brands give a torque setting on their stems. The stem may not be as light as some of the more expensive stems but it does what it should and quite frankly if it is weight loss your are looking for your would achieve more weight saving by going on a diet for a day or so rather than trying to save a gram or two by replacing your stem. I have always found that my riding improves when I lose weight from around my midrift rather than my bike. I like this stem so such that I intend to buy a second.

RSP Freeride MTB Stem Review

This is a solid piece of kit for an excellent price. The length and angle is just right, and it comes with a branded top cap. Only downside is weight - the walls are a little thicker than they need to be I think, this weighs more than the stock 145mm stem it replaced.

Stems Guide

What are stems?

The stem is the component that attaches your handlebar to your fork steerer. It has a clamp at either end, at 90 degrees to each other.

Who needs a stem?

Stems rarely need to be changed due to damage, but you might decide on an upgrade to save weight or to change your reach on your bike.

What are the choices?

Although your choice will partly be based on getting the right clamp size for your handlebars, you will also need to decide what length stem you want. Longer stems will increase your reach, while a shorter stem will decrease it and can sharpen up your bike’s handling.

What should I buy with them?

Many people will choose to upgrade their handlebar along with their stem, for compatibility or to get a pleasing matching set.

Anything else?

It’s crucial that you check the clamps at both ends of your stem are compatible – you need one for the right size headset and the right handlebar width.
