Well constructed from quality materials. Comfy. Then there is the wind noise and it does seem to be due to the holes. I taped over the holes and it drops to more the sort of roaring that you expect from wearing something on your head. I'd still recommend this, its a fine product but you'd need to either ride sort of slowly or have a helmet that slows wind near the ears or be prepared to tinker a bit. Maybe adding a headband would help, but who would want that? Given that it does look quite a lot better than the photo. The picture must have been taken with a flash. In real light the membrane does not show through quite as brightly and it looks a bit more like a plain hat.

Great until worn

Good quality cap. Nice fit and not too warm. My previous cap being thermal and too hot. Unfortunately one of its selling points is also a major downside when worn. The "perforated ear covers to aid hearing" enable wind noise so extreme that my ears are ringing after first use. I will have to add some material to the inside of the cap to cover the holes otherwise its unusable. The wind speed when I wore the cap was 12mph. I cannot recommend the cap.

Cycling Headwear Guide

What is cycling headwear?

Cycling headwear covers quite a range – caps, snoods, beanies and headbands to wear with your cycling helmet.

Who needs cycling headwear?

Cycling headwear is most useful for winter cyclists who need to keep their ears and scalp warm, but lightweight cotton caps will also keep summer roadies cool and guard against sunburn.

What are the choices?

In winter a headband or beanie will cover your ears and keep you warm. A snood can be drawn over your neck or face for even more coverage. Shade your eyes in summer with a cotton cap under your helmet – if it’s really hot you can even soak it in cold water before putting it on.

What should I buy with it?

A helmet – cycling headwear is designed to be work with your helmet, not to replace it.

Anything else?

It’s surprising how much your head warms up while riding, so make sure your headwear is breathable and wicking.
