Product Description

Cycle through the city without getting into a sweat. The Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 is an electric urban bike that is built to make street riding easier and more fun.

Offering a comfortable and efficient riding position and boosting your natural pedalling power, you will find cycling so much easier on a Vado ebike, especially when cruising effortlessly up the hills. At the heart of the Turbo Vado is the 250-watt custom motor, which delivers up to 90Nm of torque which is seamlessly integrated into the frame. Custom-tuned for city riding, the motor intuitively reacts to the force of your pedalling. So, the harder you pedal, the more power it delivers. Made in Germany the Brose motor is one of the most powerful ebike motors on the market, yet is also one of the quietest thanks to the internal belt drive system.

The 460Wh li-ion battery pack slots neatly into the downtube and is easily charged both on and off the bike. One of the main advantages of the Turbo system is that it is both easy to use and tuneable to your personal preferences. Like other ebikes you can switch between three power modes as you ride. This enables you to adjust the power that the different modes deliver as well as tuning other aspects of the motor performance like acceleration response. On the handlebars, the 2.2” digital LCD display enables you to monitor all of you ride data in real time. It also connects the Mission Control app via Bluetooth®, so you have full control over the tune, modes and range. The Smart Control feature tailors the motor output to you route, so you can be sure that you will always have enough power for your whole ride.

With wide road bike tyres and a suspension fork the Turbo Vado is ideal for riding on less-than-perfect road surfaces. Hydraulic disc brakes give you powerful stopping control in all weather conditions and the Shimano SLX 10 speed drivetrain offers reliable gear shifting with a wide range of gears for every situation. Supplied with rear rack and mudguards the Vado is ready for all-weather commuting and urban cycling.

Ride through the city with less effort on the Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0 urban ebike.

Brilliant bike let down by lack of App support

Got rid of my car which I wasn’t using nearly enough to justify the monthly cost so got this for the short journeys to friends and family. There’s a lot of hills between me and them but this makes it seem they’re not even there. As the previous reviewer stated Speacilized’s Mission Control App doesn’t work with this or indeed any Vado model because it’s for the Levo range only. A fact not made at all clear on the company’s website. Some quick emails between myself and Specialized revealed that the Vado range is getting its own app (at time of writing) and is some weeks away from release. So for the time being the Vado’s Bloks Display 20 is a very glorified basic trip computer, with speed, distance traveled and lights on/off indication. That being said, if you’re prepared to get the bike and wait for the full app support, you’ll still be getting a superb bike that just swallows up roads and chews up hills.

Happy and disappointed at the same time

Don't buy this bike yet! The bike itself is brilliant, built very well and good range etc. The problem with this bike is that the Bluetooth app that opens up the bike for all the info and options for changing power settings, viewing battery life and route planning etc isn't available yet for the Vado ( which I found out after the purchase so a bit of false advertising) so you are stuck with the primary screen on the bike which shows speed, total distance and trip distance and a vague idea of how much battery is left. There is no range information so less info than on a bike half its value. On top of this the head unit freezes a lot needing a reboot of the bike to restart which is annoying in the middle of a ride. I'm told it needs a software update which no local specialized dealer seems to know how to do as its such new tech. So it's going back to tredz causing me to lose my commuter bike! The tredz team have been helpful but it's a lot of inconvenience for a lot of money!
