The Speedplay 10900 Nanogram Zero Titanium Pedals are the very same pedals used by none other than Bradley Wiggins, so if they're good enough for him, they're certainly good enough for us!
You might be wondering what on earth could justify the rather hefty price tag? Well, think of them as an investment - these are sturdy beasts which will see you through plenty of seasons in the sun (and rain). They are absolutely jam packed full of features, reading word for word like a pro-racer's' pedal wish list. We'd go as far as saying they are the most technically advanced clipless pedal system available.
First up is the light weight. At just 130g a pair (that's the same weight as a packet of Cadbury's milk chocolate fingers, with about 5 extra fingers) you'll barely even notice they're there. The matching cleats are 88.5g per pair. This is thanks to a mixture of titanium, carbon fibre and carbon fibre-reinforced thermoplastic components keeping the weight down.
With the 10900s, Speedplay are demonstrating their true innovation - instead of the standard two cartridge bearings and one needle bearing found in each Zero pedal each Nanogram pedal uses a ceramic bearing, a cartridge bearing and a needle bearing. Alloy and titanium have been used for fasteners and bowties and the wrench flats have been removed.
Add to all this superior adjustability and you have a pair of top of the range pedals, worthy of a yellow jersey or two.
