Product Description

Our Long Haul Trucker enjoys a reputation as one of the best riding and most value-packed touring bikes out there. It's been around long enough to be tested in the real world, in all kinds of places, with all kinds of loads on all kinds of roads.

Sometimes, however, a combination of load, climate and terrain demands a bit more braking performance than a standard rim-brake LHT can give. That's where the Disc Trucker comes in. Disc Trucker is a Long Haul Trucker specifically designed for the unique forces discs impose. We've made sure it can run discs, racks, and fenders with no jury rigging, a somewhat unique feature we've just now decided to call Simulpatibility.

Most of the components on the complete bike are the same as the standard LHT, parts chosen for their balance of technical capability, durability, and value. The drivetrain is a 3x9 system with the sort of wide gearing suitable for loaded and unloaded travel. For the Disc Trucker we chose Avid BB7 cable operated brakes for their proven reliability and ease of service, and Shimano XT M756 hubs with 6-hole rotor mounts. These hubs are durable and easy to maintain.

You'll need to outfit it with the extras you want, like fenders and racks. We don't include that stuff because everybody's needs are different. From the casual commuter to the person who rides around the world more than once, the Disc Trucker is more than capable. It's a tool designed from the ground up to take you and a bunch of stuff just about anywhere you'd like to go. It is a tool to help you get lost and find yourself.

comfortable bike

This is a very good tourer ! very comfortable and surprisingly sporty i really like this bike the steering is great and the disc brakes give confidence on steep fast corners.at least the front one does my rear brake has never worked properly. my bike arrived in a badly damaged box with the handle bars sticking out as had the previous bike that this bike was the replacement for there was some small damage to the bike and it was out of tune i.e. gears rattaling, brakes rubbing and front wheel out of true. emailed tredz but have no reply as yet! will have to replace the back brake and rotor. still the disc trucker is a keeper.

Surly 700 56cm Disc Trucker

It's well built, strong great looking and a comfortable all rounder. I am 5'10 and the bike geometry is perfect in 56cm size. I've added mudguards and a rear rack and panniers for a trips to work and the shops. Highly recommended and I hope to use it tours in time to come.

A good choice for European touring with panniers.

I needed a new touring bike at short notice for cycling across Europe on paved and unpaved roads. The bike arrived poorly packaged with some damage. Luckily this was only cosmetic and has not delayed my tour preparations. However, I am unlikely to buy a bike this way in future.
