Ideal for purpose

Really good bag - fits phone, puncture kit, multi tool some cash and other bits - with a pump and light using the exterior straps. Zip is tricky to operate when it's pulled high to the saddle so you would have to loosen the straps a bit if you want frequent access. Nice touches with the internal mesh pocket and light holder. Would recommend

Does not work for me

I am a thin person with quite narrow sit bones (110mm). Also, I have my saddle setback, and I sit in a fairly aggressive position. In short, this means my inner thighs rub against the bag. I believe the angle the bag attaches to the saddle could be improved. Though no fault of the bag, I find it too small for my travel essentials; therefore, I will stick to my trunk bag. Perhaps no wedge-shaped saddle bag will work for me.

Excellent

Very good bag, nice strong material, good strong zip and easy to attach or remove. Ample space (I got the medium) for essentials and does not look out of place on a road bike. Very good value for money. Top quality.

Saddle Bags Guide

What are saddle bags?

A small bag for your bike such as a seatpack or frame bag gives you the opportunity to transport useful tools, snacks and valuables to prevent them falling out of your pockets. They are attached using Velcro or clips so they can easily be removed and washed.

Who needs a saddle bag?

Smaller bags are ideal for shorter journeys when you only need the bare essentials. They are favoured by weight-conscious cyclists as you can fit in a surprising amount of stuff without affecting the aerodynamics of your bike.

What are the choices?

You can choose from seatpacks which fit snuggly under your saddle, frame bags which attach to your frame or bar bags which are often seen on triathlon bikes. Look for sturdy, durable, waterproof material and separate compartments for easier organisation.

What should I buy with them?

Why not kit your bag out with some cycling essentials? A hand pump and/or CO2 cannisters are an obvious choice, along with a small puncture repair kit, multitool, energy bar and a couple of quid for a snack, drink or emergency phonecall (that’s if you’re lucky enough to find a phonebox these days).

Anything else?

Just remember that small luggage bags can be easy to remove, so remember to take any valuables out if you’re leaving your bike unattended.

See our Bike luggage guide for more.
