Product Description

The SRAM BB GXP Team PressFit mtb BB92

is low in weight and easy to install simply by pressing the bearing cups into the frame instead of threading them. There's no change to the crank - spindle length and diameter remain the same.

GXP captures the left-side bearing between the spindle and the left crankarm and allows the drive-side bearing to float axially on the spindle. There's no need to side-load bearings during adjustment. No excess wear. And a much simpler installation. Just tighten to the proper specifications and you're ready to roll, worry-free. GXP's two bicycle-specific cartridge bearings and eight seals ensure a smooth, long-lasting ride. The new Gutter seal system takes a two stage approach in directing contaminates away from the bearings providing longer bearing life. GXP's new Gutter Seal design also reduces friction, 35% less drag than the current GXP BB, improving rider feel and performance. Gutter seal system has deeper installation tool grooves which provide stability and support while applying torque to the adapter cups. The new design and material choice has dropped 15g out of GXP BBs.

Bottom Brackets Guide

What is a bottom bracket?

A bottom bracket is the bearings that the crank axle passes through, keeping the cranks turning smoothly.

Who needs a bottom bracket?

Every bike has a bottom bracket, so if your bike is creaking or feels stiff or notchy as you turn the pedals, your bottom bracket might be worn out and need replacing.

What are the choices?

It’s not so much a choice as a matter of compatibility. You need to establish whether your bottom bracket is press-fit or threaded and what size. Then you need to make sure it is compatible with your crankset. If it’s worn out, replacing like for like is often the easiest thing to do.

What should I buy with it?

You need some specialist tools both to fit and remove bottom brackets and to remove the cranks to get at it.

Anything else?

If you’re fitting a bottom bracket into a brand new frame, your frame will need some preparation first. Bottom bracket shell facing tools can be very costly, so you might need to bring it into a bike workshop to get this done.
