Zefal HPX frame pump

Great pump, spring is strong so fits in frame without rattling. Easily pumps tyres up to 85psi with not too much effort, gets to 110psi with some effort. Nice classic look, build quality is good and delivery was reasonably quick.

Zefal HPX framefit pump

Just received and fitted. Note, when measuring pump length Zefal measure from seat post to bottom bracket. Topeak measure the top tube. you have to go to their sites to find this out. BUT on my bike there is insufficient space between the seat/bottom bracket tube and the rear whee. Also, in front of that tube there are couple of bolt holes with projecting bolts to seal these holes. So, fitting the pump on the seat tube would be difficult. Fortunately, I didn't know this(!) and I measured the top tube. The pump fits well. I have put an additional Velcro strap because I cycle over the roads in the pothole capital of Scotland which will test the rubustness of the fitting. The pump fits both Schrader and Presta valves though it is a bit of a fiddle to alter the nozzle. However, the pump is sturdy, easy to attach to the valve, and pumps well. It replaces an ancient Zefal very basic pump that is dying after many years.

Zefal HPX Frame Fit pump

Without doubt the best quality and most efficient pump to carry on your bike. Gets tyres, virtually to track pump pressure - albeit with a bit more effort, but then again, its not easy to carry a track pump on a ride.

Best non-guage pump

Very sturdy pump, elegantly designed, packs a punch in inflation terms! The only thing to think about when buying pumps is that it is very useful to have a pressure guage so you know how much psi to put in. If you don't care too much then this is a very good choice for you.

The best frame pump

My second after the last fell from my bike after 7 years of use and a truck flattened it.Great frame pumps. Easily gets a 1823mm tube up to 130 psi. Has great backup replacement parts for those parts that wear. Only other servicing required is a squirt of light oil into the housing very so often. Cant be beaten.

I like a pump that stays on!

My new touring bike has brazeons for the pump to sit on the seat stay so I got this pump because I don't like the bottle cage ones they always look at risk of getting knocked off. Between the brazeons is 35cm and the 360 400mm size fits perfectly.

Bike Pumps Guide

What are bike pumps?

A bike pump is essential for keeping your tyres inflated, preventing pesky pinch punctures and providing more efficient riding. Tyres gradually deflate even if your bike stays inactive for a while, so it’s good practice to top them up as often as you can.

Who needs a bike pump?

Anyone with a bike. A mini pump or CO2 cannister can be vital in getting you home after a puncture, or to work on time if you’re commuting.

What are the choices?

Traditional pumps are easy to use and inexpensive to buy. A hand pump is operated with a pumping action and is available in standard or mini size. Both types can be fitted to eyelets in your bike frame or smaller pumps will fit in a saddle bag. Track or floor pumps are great for the garage – inflating high psi levels in just a couple of movements. CO2 cannister instantly release air into your tyres and are diminutive in size.

What should I buy with it?

If your pump isn’t compatible the valve on your tyre (Presta or Schrader) you may need to buy an adaptor. CO2 cartridges require a small adaptor for use.

Anything else?

A gauge is a good way of seeing how much air you’ve added, preventing the dreaded pop sound from an overambitious inflation. Also, NEVER take CO2 cartridges with you on an aeroplane!
