The fantastic Closer tyre just got better! Now offering even better value and performance, the Closer Plus has additional PT protection, a puncture protective layer that is four times stronger than Kevlar.

    • Using the same performance tread pattern as the RACE series, the Closer Plus has a ZSG Natural rubber compound that gives superb reliability but retains the grip when you need it.
    • Closer Plus is a fantastic balance of high end race performance and the superb durability, comfort and confidence of a training tyre.
    • Race Evo Tread pattern
    • PT Puncture protection
    • ZSG natural rubber

    Panaracer Closer Plus tyre

I've been using Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres until now. They're very good tyres and punctures are quite rare. However, when punctures do occur they're usually in the sidewall, which is thin and also the tread cuts very easily and collects flints. I've had some Panaracer Pasela TG tyres on an off road bike for some years and not only have there been no punctures, but the tread is completely unmarked. So I decided to give the Closer Plus tyres a try on my road bike. Although I've only covered around 150 miles so far, the tread is completely unmarked - and this despite very gritty roads at the end of the winter. These tyres appear to be just about perfect, very puncture resistant, grippy and fast rolling. It's early days and they are expensive but, for the peace of mind of what appears to be a virtually puncture proof fast training tyre, they're worth it.
