Scott Aspect 930 Mountain Bike 2015 - Hardtail MTB
The Scott Aspect 930 is a capable and great value recreational hardtail mountain bike ready to hit cross country trails, your local trail centre and even the morning commute - it’s versatile. You can buy the Aspect 930 through a Cycle to Work Scheme for even better value.
Frame & Fork
The Aspect is light and strong making it a great entry level mountain bike. This is thanks to the aluminium frame material. Double butting is a method of shaving away excess material from within the frame tubes whilst keep the frame just as strong. It’s a feature you don’t see on every bike at this price point.
Your positioning on the frame is upright and stable giving you extra control on trickier terrain. In urban areas being upright will also improve your visibility.
100mm suspension travel from the Suntour fork will smooth out bumps in the road for a more efficient and comfortable ride. A remote lockout lever on the handlebar lets you fix the suspension in place on the fly. An active fork will bob up and down when climbing making it harder and more energy intensive.
After an impact your fork will return to its original position, this is called rebound. The speed of this rebound has a massive impact on fork performance. Too fast and the front of your bike will buck up, too slow and it won’t be ready for the next impact. This fork comes with adjustable rebound damping so you can set the best speed for your needs.
Components
The Shimano 3x9 speed drivetrain gives you a wide range of gears for taking on climbs, rough terrain and rapid road riding. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are great to see on a bike at this price point. They offer great stopping power and performance than traditional rim brakes.
Strong Syncros rims can take the impacts of rough riding. The 29” wheel size rolls smoothly on bumpy tracks. These are wrapped in Kenda Slant tyres with low profile knobbles for better grip when off-road. They do roll quickly when you’re back on the tarmac.
