    Thule Roof bars

Following purchase of new car, had to change previous Thule roof bars and cycle carriers. Thule offer several different roof bars but the previous ones were steel square bar. I considered upgrading to the aluminium ones but the aluminium ones are considerably more expensive. I never found wind noise a problem previously and the previous steel bars lasted 7 years without any significant corrosion so I opted for steel again. It also meant I could re-use the old cycle carriers without difficulty over their u-bolt fixings. I have found the Thule stuff good quality with very little corrosion over 7 years. The only reservation I have relates to their fitting leaflet which is hard to follow. Take care to read the pictograms very carefully. Once you have figured out how it goes together it it is quite simple but not the first time. Note that you will generally need if starting for the first time, 1 roof bars 2 feet for the roof bars 3 adaptor back depending the type of car you have 4 the cycle carrier(s) or roof box or whatever Cars with prefitted roof rails may be different. All of these add up to a tidy sum!
