Soggy soggy soggy

I tried these several times at near zero degrees centigrade. They keep your hands warm, but breathability is a big issue. Take them off after 90 - 120 mins for a coffee stop and they are cold and soggy inside when you put them back on. They are also said to have padding in the palm - if they do, its negligible. The palm and finger bases have "pads" but apart from giving one a good grip, the protection from them is practically zero, and I end up with sore/numb hands which was never a problem with my short fingered "Body Geometry" summer gloves. Also, there is little in the way of cuffs, so quite often a gap between sleeve and glove. There is a tab on the front of the wrist which is useful when using your teeth to get the glove wiggled back on again if you took it off while riding and don't want to let go of the handlebars with both hands while wrestling the damp glove back on. I put on my 30 year old gortex ski gloves as a comparison for another ride at near zero degrees. After 4 hours - fingers toasty, no dampness in gloves, and great big elasticated cuffs to go over jacket sleeves. Guess what I will be wearing for the rest of the winter. On another day, I wore these for a short 20 mile ride: 10 out and 10 back. It started raining just before we started back, and it became clear very soon that the short cuffs were a major issue. Water was running off my jacket and into the gloves, so that by the time I got home, the gloves were totally saturated. I can't comment on how "waterproof" they are as they filled from the cuffs, but one cycling review said they keep out water from a hose-pipe. Be that as it may, that is not what we face out on the bike. Having weighed both gloves wet and then after they dried, one glove had 98 mls of water in it, the other 94 mls. So make up your own mind. But as far as I am concerned, I would only score these as a one star - in that my hands were not totally cold!

Really nice Glove.

These are a really nice Glove, fit is true, comfortable on the bike without losing the "feel". Very good wind protection and probably best suited to Autumn/spring conditions. purchased these in the sale, great value.
