    Seeking the perfect cycling shoe

After breaking my left leg two years ago, I've returned to cycling after an 8 year layoff. Due to on going problems following 3 lots of surgery on the ankle and foot of the broken leg, I've struggled to be comfortable on the bike. The Bont Vapour+ shoes on paper offered many of the requirements I was looking for in a cycling shoe. Wide fitting option, stiff carbon sole, customisable fit, Boa micro closure system. Out of the bog and staring on the feet the shoes felt different, stiff as promised, the wide fit and spacious toe box given my feet the space I needed, and the Boa system the immediate adjustment. Cleats fitted there's a very good printed circular pattern of guidelines to help you get the cleats perfectly adjusted. A quick 30min turbo session to check fit, set up and feel, all boxes where again ticked. The following day a 50 mile hilly ride, with plenty of out the saddle pedalling needed, proved further the claims of stiffnes, support across the length and width of the foot, and with no hotspots or numbness the Bonts where proving worth every penny to me. I've not currently needed to go for the full on bake in the oven moulding to fit adjustment as the fit out of the box is currently suiting my foot (feet) shape, not causing any pressure points. Bont recommend sizing up, I typically wear a 44.5 but opted for the 45 wide and confirm the advice is spot on. I ve worn them with a slightly padded sport sock and a thin cycling specific sock, both worked and felt comfortable with plenty of space. I opted for the white, black, organise colour scheme and they look good. OK £300 plus is a lot of anyone's money for a shoe for with on,y one purpose, but given the hours of comfort and support I'll get from them it's a worthwhile investment. A long term evaluation has now commenced, but on looks, feel and initial rides I'd recommend you at least consider these as a viable option. I'd also recommend Tredz, for value, service, and delivery, they provide excellent customer updates and support through the process.
