What are prop stands?
Prop stands, or kickstands as they are also referred to, are ideal for preventing damage to your bike, as they hold it upright without you needing to lean it against something or lie it down. They are inexpensive, easy to use and can be taken off if needs be.
Who needs a prop stand?
If you make frequent stops on your rides, then a kickstand is an ideal accessory. It’s especially useful when touring, as it will help support your bike without your luggage causing it to topple over. Similarly, a prop stand is perfect for using when getting a child in or out of a child seat or trailer.
What are the choices?
There are all sorts of prop stands out there. Adjustable stands are perfect for tailoring the height to your bike while double leg stands give more stability. There are junior stands available for children’s bikes, mountain bike specific stands and universal fitting stands.
What should I buy with it?
If you haven’t already got assembly tools, our tool section will cater for your needs.
Make sure you kick the stand back up before you set off again! Also, if you leave your bike unattended, be sure to lock it securely and take luggage with you if possible.
