The Smithfield combines the sturdy reliability of a well-made steel frame with the low-maintenance practicality of a Shimano hubgear and the comfortable 'just get on and ride' accessibility of a flat bar set-up.

Form meets function here in perfect harmony; a newly-developed twin-toptube is a nod to the beautifully constructed frames of yesteryear whilst the powerful, confidence-inspiring mechanical disc brakes add the modern performance required for today's urban environment. Designed to be ridden in non-bike-specific attire with touches like a chainguard, extended, full-length mudguards, rear rack for luggage and accessible compact geometry, the Smithfield is the 'go to' bike for style-conscious urban riders.

    Comfort and safety at last

I have been riding light weight "sports bikes" for a number of years now, but shoulder, neck and balance problems made cycling uncomfortable and a bit dangerous. Following an operation I started to look around for a more "upright" bike. I looked at the Pashley Para Bike but wasn't too impressed, the next bike (at a reasonable cost) was the Genesis Smithfield. I looked at all the reports I could find and decided that the Genesis was ideal for me. Local firms didn't sell them so I ordered one from Tredz (I had previously ordered smaller items without any problems). The bike arrived quickly, well packaged and in "ready to ride" almost straight away. I "fettled" the bike for a time changing the handlebars to a pair of On One Mary bars and putting my own saddle on. I've since put the original bars back and after some adjustments to the bar angles and seat to bar distance I have it down just right for me. I've only been out on a couple of short rides but so far I'm really impressed with the bike. It's a lot heavier than my other bike, but that only notices on drag starts (dream on). The gears are great and change easily. It's easy to keep clean thanks to the mudguards and no fiddly gear bits. Will I change anything? I would like to get some shorter brake levers at some point, but until then - A great bike very comfortable, a little different and just what I needed. Thank you Tredz for the excellent service. Great urban choice

Fabulous bike. Comfy and smooth running. Lower step-over helped me as I was planning to add a child seat. If I had to be picky I'd say: - heavy but on the flat cruises well - fitted rack only 15kg load bearing - gearing means may never use two lowest gears (but I live somewhere flat!) Steady on the road, decent enough handling, lovely paint job, upright position with wide bars making comfortable For steady commutes. Having read reviews suggesting you will not be too speedy - tend to agree but as a leisure and commuting bike really like it.
