Useless

Apart from being VERY poorly constructed (think child's first lock) and incredibly flimsy, this thing simply doesn't work! Okay, only a fool would buy this lock hoping it would keep their bike safe unattended for long periods, but even if being used as as a mere visual deterrent, it ought to function at the very least. It seemed fine for the first week but then a few days after I changed the code, it wouldn't unlock! It then took a pair of regular pliars and very little effort to snap the cable. It's now in a bin somewhere near Clent- best place for it.

Needed a thin cable lock, Does the job perfectly

Although a mountain biker, I actually bought this for my motorbike as a deterrent for someone to steal my bike helmet when not with the bike. I needed a lock that had a thin cable (rather than one with a bulky plastic outer coating), so it would fit through the seat. Does the job!

A good small bike lock

I Bought this as a visual deterrent when stopping for lunch on our club rides. I can’t understand the other reviews unless I have an updated lock. I found it easy to reset the four digit code and easy to use, yes it is a light construction but that is what I was looking for so it would comfortably fit in my pocket. On my first outing It fell out of my pocket and hit the road quite hard and it was not damaged or cracked Regarding security I was watching a MET Police TV documentary and they were showing how bike thieves cut through security locks with a cable cutter, so having a thicker lock would not stop the determined thief. This lock will do what its intended. Other club members are quite impressed that they are also ordering one. I would give it 100%

poor quality plastic

Bought this as a visual deterrent when stopping for coffee breaks on rides. Very flimsy plastic construction which looks like something Poundland would sell. Would not recommend

Bike Locks Guide

What is a bike lock?

A bike lock is a security device for your bike which will deter thieves and keep your bike in your possession and not theirs. Bike locks are vital not just on the move but also at home to give you peace of mind.

Who needs a bike lock?

If you ever leave your bike unattended while you’re on a ride, a lock can mean that your bike is still there when you return from that quick shop stop or comfort break. If you have insured your bike, there are often requirements on the type of lock you’ll need in order to make a claim, so it’s worth checking this information.

What are the choices?

There are all kinds of locks to choose from. Sturdy D-locks  and chunky chain locks may be heavy but they are harder to cut through. Lighter weight cable locks are great for securing components with quick release skewers. Ground anchors are concreted or bolted into the ground making them an ideal home-based security measure.

What should I buy with it?

Bike security markings are a great idea, as they could help to identify it if it unfortunately gets stolen. Lock spares are available so you can replace anything from a shackle to a bracket.

Anything else?

We recommend you spent at least 10% of the value of your bike on a lock - with bike crime always on the rise, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
