What you expect

Fits a spare tube, allen keys, house keys and tyre lever. Doesn't fit my small pump so that has to go in the back pocket.

Review of Topeak Micro Saddlebag

I have bought quite a few small saddlebags over the years. They are for my road bike and commute to work. However each one has barely lasted six months in the changeable British weather. Topeak's bags fasten much more securely to the saddle and their zips seem to be more heavy duty. While this is Topeak's smallest bag it can still fit in an inner tube, tyre levers and a CO2 inflator with room to spare. For a tenner this seems the best of the lot.

Quality product just too small for me

I tested this product out and I could just about squeeze my iPhone 5 in it. It could be useful for people who just want to put an inner tube in it or just a phone but if you want to add anything else go with a bigger size.

Saddle Bags Guide

What are saddle bags?

A small bag for your bike such as a seatpack or frame bag gives you the opportunity to transport useful tools, snacks and valuables to prevent them falling out of your pockets. They are attached using Velcro or clips so they can easily be removed and washed.

Who needs a saddle bag?

Smaller bags are ideal for shorter journeys when you only need the bare essentials. They are favoured by weight-conscious cyclists as you can fit in a surprising amount of stuff without affecting the aerodynamics of your bike.

What are the choices?

You can choose from seatpacks which fit snuggly under your saddle, frame bags which attach to your frame or bar bags which are often seen on triathlon bikes. Look for sturdy, durable, waterproof material and separate compartments for easier organisation.

What should I buy with them?

Why not kit your bag out with some cycling essentials? A hand pump and/or CO2 cannisters are an obvious choice, along with a small puncture repair kit, multitool, energy bar and a couple of quid for a snack, drink or emergency phonecall (that’s if you’re lucky enough to find a phonebox these days).

Anything else?

Just remember that small luggage bags can be easy to remove, so remember to take any valuables out if you’re leaving your bike unattended.
