The Boardman ADV 8.6 is built around a smooth-welded 6061 butted alloy frame that finds the sweet spot between low weight, durability and all-terrain comfort. Its adventure-focused geometry offers stable handling on rough roads while remaining efficient and lively on tarmac. Compliance is boosted by thinned tube profiles and a full carbon fork, helping to take the sting out of broken surfaces. Versatility is a major part of the ADV range, and the 8.6 comes ready for anything with hidden mudguard mounts, rack fixings, top-tube mounts and bottle bosses across the frame and fork legs. Even dropper post routing is included for future upgrades.
Shimano’s Sora 2x9 groupset is well-known for its reliability and ease of maintenance—ideal for year-round riding. The 30/46T chainset combines with an 11-34T cassette to offer a genuinely useful spread of gears, whether grinding up steep climbs or pushing the pace on faster sections. Shifting is light and predictable thanks to Sora’s integrated brake/shift levers.
Rolling on tubeless-compatible Boardman ADV wheels, the 8.6 is ready for an easy upgrade to lower pressures and more grip. The factory-fitted Goodyear Connector 40mm tyres feature a fast central tread for smooth momentum on hardpack or tarmac, with more aggressive shoulder knobs to keep you confident when the gravel gets loose. They strike a great balance for riders who mix road, towpaths and easy trails.
A flared alloy handlebar widens control in the drops and creates extra space for bar-mounted luggage—ideal for bikepacking setups. The ADV saddle blends supportive shaping with a pressure-relief channel to keep you comfortable across long days exploring.
From weekday commutes to weekend gravel rides, the Boardman ADV 8.6 is a versatile, confidence-building bike that’s ready to take you further.
