The ADV 8.9 is designed as a true all-road companion, bringing together a lightweight triple-butted 6061 X7 aluminium frame and a full carbon fork to create a confident, adaptable ride wherever your route leads. Hidden welds give the frame a clean finish, while the adventure-tuned geometry balances long-ride comfort with the stability needed for unpredictable surfaces. A lower bottom bracket keeps the bike composed on loose ground, and thru-axles at both ends add stiffness for accurate handling when cornering or carrying extra kit.
The carbon fork uses a tapered steerer to improve front-end precision, helping the bike stay steady on fast gravel descents and tight off-road turns. A slightly taller front end, paired with a shorter stem, places the bars within easy reach and encourages relaxed control whether you’re on canal paths, trail connectors or broken tarmac.
Shimano’s GRX 2x10 groupset is designed specifically for mixed-surface riding. Paired with an FSA Omega Adventure 48/32 chainset and an 11–36 cassette, it offers a wide, useful range for steep climbs, long road stretches and fully-loaded weekend rides. The GRX hydraulic levers deliver braking confidence from both the hoods and the tops, working with 160mm rotors to offer reliable stopping power in wet weather and loose conditions.
The ADV 8.9 rolls on Boardman ADV tubeless-ready rims with Formula hubs. These are matched with 38mm Schwalbe G-One Allround tyres, built around an Addix compound and versatile tread that balances grip on hardpack and dry trails with low rolling resistance on the road. Set up tubeless (with tape), the tyres can be run at lower pressures for extra comfort and traction.
Contact points have been refined through extensive bike-fit testing, ensuring that most riders can settle into a supportive, balanced position on longer days out. A flared handlebar widens the stance in the drops for added control off-road, while the Boardman ADV saddle and carefully chosen cockpit dimensions support steady all-terrain riding.
Full-length mudguard mounts and a pannier rack mount add practical versatility, making the ADV 8.9 as suitable for commuting and winter training as it is for gravel loops and all-day adventures. Blending stability, comfort and precise handling, it’s a capable platform for riders wanting a single bike for a wide mix of surfaces.
