The Cannondale Bad Habit 1 is a long-travel enduro bike designed around technical descents, rough trails and bike park riding. Its carbon frame combines 155mm of rear travel with a 160mm fork and mixed wheel setup, balancing stability over rough ground with manoeuvrability when trails become tighter or steeper.
Cannondale uses high-strength carbon construction for the Bad Habit frame, alongside its Proportional Response approach to suspension and geometry. Rather than giving every size identical characteristics, the design is intended to maintain appropriate handling and suspension behaviour across the size range.
The frame uses 155mm of rear travel and features Cannondale's Proportional Response suspension kinematics. It's the same chassis platform Cannondale highlights as having achieved success at Enduro World Championship level, although the Bad Habit remains designed for riders looking for a versatile long-travel bike rather than being limited to racing.
A RockShox Lyrik Ultimate provides 160mm of front travel. As RockShox's premium Lyrik model, it offers extensive adjustment and a chassis aimed at aggressive trail and enduro riding, providing support and steering control when tackling repeated impacts and technical descents.
At the rear, the RockShox Vivid Ultimate is specifically tuned for the Bad Habit. The 210x55mm shock controls 155mm of rear-wheel travel and offers a high level of adjustment, allowing the suspension to be tuned around rider preference and terrain.
The mixed wheel configuration uses a 29in front wheel and 27.5in rear. The larger front wheel helps roll through rough terrain and maintain stability, while the smaller rear wheel contributes to a more agile feel and provides additional clearance when moving around the bike on steep trails.
SRAM provides a blended mechanical and electronic 1x12-speed drivetrain. An X0 Eagle AXS T-Type rear derailleur and AXS Pod Controller provide wireless electronic shifting, while the Eagle 90 T-Type crankset uses a 30T chainring.
A wide-range 10-52T SRAM GX Eagle T-Type cassette provides low gearing for steep climbs and transfers, with an Eagle 70 T-Type chain completing the 12-speed setup. The T-Type drivetrain uses SRAM's full-mount derailleur interface for precise alignment and shifting under the loads encountered during mountain biking.
TRP EVO Pro hydraulic disc brakes use four-piston calipers to provide powerful, controllable braking. Large 220mm and 200mm rotors add braking capacity and heat management for long, steep descents where repeated heavy braking is required.
Reserve 30|HD AL wheels are designed for hard trail and all-mountain use, with a 30mm internal rim width providing a supportive platform for the 2.4in tyres. The rims are tubeless ready and use a DT Swiss 350 front hub and DT Swiss 370 Ratchet rear hub with Boost spacing.
Continental Kryptotal tyres are matched to each end of the bike. The 29x2.4in Kryptotal-F front tyre uses a tread developed around front-wheel braking and cornering demands, while the 27.5x2.4in Kryptotal-R rear is designed around rear-wheel traction and braking.
Both tyres use Continental's Enduro casing and Soft compound, prioritising grip and protection for rougher terrain. Combined with the mixed wheels and 30mm internal-width rims, they give the Bad Habit a particularly gravity-focused tyre setup straight out of the box.
Cannondale's StashPort provides integrated storage within the frame, giving you somewhere to carry tools and smaller ride essentials without relying entirely on pockets or a pack.
DirectLine tube-in-tube cable routing guides the cables through dedicated internal paths, simplifying routing through the carbon frame. The frame also uses a UDH hanger, an ISCG05 mount for compatible chain guides and bash guards, and a threaded 73mm BSA bottom bracket for straightforward servicing.
The 1.5in head tube is compatible with Acros angle-adjust headsets, providing scope to further tune the front-end geometry if desired. The supplied Acros headset can accommodate either internal or external cable routing.
A OneUp cockpit combines an 800mm aluminium handlebar with 35mm rise and a short OneUp alloy stem. The wide bar and compact stem complement the bike's enduro geometry, providing plenty of leverage and direct steering control on technical terrain.
OneUp's V3 dropper post is sized according to the frame, with 180mm travel on Small, 210mm on Medium and 240mm on Large and XL bikes. The generous drop helps move the WTB Solano saddle well out of the way for greater freedom of movement on steep descents.
Size-specific crank lengths are also used, with 160mm cranks on Small and Medium frames and 165mm on Large and XL. The shorter cranks help provide additional ground clearance on technical terrain.
Overall, the Bad Habit 1 combines a lightweight carbon chassis with premium RockShox suspension and a particularly tough enduro-focused component package. Mixed wheels, Reserve alloy rims, Kryptotal tyres and powerful TRP brakes make it best suited to riders who prioritise technical descending, enduro riding and bike park laps, while the 10-52T gearing keeps steep climbs and transitions manageable.

* Mountain bikes are sized differently to road bikes. Typically, they are sized in inches as the first MTBs were produced in the USA. European brands like Lapierre and Haibike like to use centimetres for all their bikes. The measurements of their mountain bikes doesn’t match their road bikes but are like a simple conversion from the inches measurement. This is why we have included cm measurements in brackets for the Mountain bike column.
